    On May 5th Mayweather;

    - Will be 35
    - Will have fought less than 4 rounds in the past 24 months
    - Will be less than a month away from being sent to jail
    - Will be a guy who walks around at 150 lbs, moving up in weight to fight at the full JMW weight limit.

    Remember, "Invincible men only exist in the movies"

    Miguel Cotto's record against undefeated fighters, aka "Invincible Men" 6-0 5 KOs. Will another invincible man crumble under the hands of Cotto, or will Cinco De Mayo turn out to be typical May weather? Here's boxing expert Doug Fischer's take on the fight;

    Bloody hell, Reggie. You're really trying hard to sell this fight, aren't you?

    The jail sentence is nothing. He'll be fine in there. At 35 he's still better preserved than fighters 10 years his junior. His inactivity doesn't really effect him that much. And he's going up to JMW to fight a guy who isn't really a proper JMW.

    The event will be good. But stop trying to sell the idea that he's up against a mountainous task.

    Cotto is a decent opponent for ordinary fighters. Floyd is extraordinary. This is a talent mismatch - Cotto's improvements are not even cosmetic, they are "grabbing" and "moving". He needs a miracle to win; a very lucky shot.

    The ease with which he defeated Zab and the way he turned it off against Mosley at the end really indicate what a perfectly prime Cotto could do, and he is well past that stage now - and Mosley is listless for adaptation, Zab mentally frail against punchers. Floyd will have to have aged overnight to past Bernard's age to mess this up with the talent differential.

    I don't know. Many people opined that a big reason Mayweather beat Corrales was because Corrales was facing jail time. You ever been to jail? I haven't. Who knows how much that effects you mentally.

    How old are you? Most older people I talk to says that their body starts to break down when they hit their mid 30's. We'll see if that holds true for Money. 35 is still 35 though, no one is immune to the aging process.

    How do you know? I've seen plenty of fighters lose or put on bad performances and have it blamed on inactivity.

    How is Cotto not a proper JMW? His power and speed have carried well there, he's been able to perform at a high level there, and he has to cut about 20 lbs. to make the weight. Sergio Martinez claims he can't fight at SMW despite walking around just above the SMW limit. Well Mayweather walks around below the JMW limit. That can't be ignored.

    I'm just pointing out facts. Plenty of fighters have had losses blamed on age, going up in weight, inactivty, and impending jail sentences. Mayweather is a 35 year old fighter, who has been inactive, is going up in weight, and is facing jail time. You can't simply act like that isn't the case.

    So many double standards with Mayweather. Some things can affect his opponents (Oscar was 34 and a part time boxer), but somehow don't affect him

    Well he is...just not for Floyd...if it were anyone else fighting at "35" this would be a huge win.

    Because Floyd has higher expectations, being that he talks a lot and his skill level is far above any other fighter today, it isn't as hard as it would be for any other fighter.:thumbsup

    my point is, he always gives mayweather opponents more of a chance than most.

    He liked Ortiz chances, i don;t remember what he thought for the marquez fight.

    Mosley was ranked number 3 p4p at the time. Many people thought he had a good shot to at least be competitive. Not many people thought Shane would lose 11 rounds. As far as Ortiz, how many people claim Mayweather has problems with southpaws? Ortiz is a big, powerpunching southpaw, with good hand and footspeed. He had also just come off a big win, and was the number 2 rated WW. It's easy to see why some people were giving him a legit shot. Let's also not forget that Mayweather was coming off a 16 month layoff.

    This is a boxing forum, is it not? Aren't fans supposed to share their thoughts and feelings about the sport?
