And yes, it is relivent, because it would show that despite you trying to hype this fight and that cotto is some sort of threat, that behind the bull**** you know like most, that this should be another day at the office for Floyd. And all this propping up cotto while trying to outline some reasons why it will be more competetive then people are thinking will fall flat when Mayweather has a relatively easy night in there.

    Oh for sure.

I was mainly in here to ask Reg his prediction for the fight. Because hes been trying pretty hard to offer the point of view that this fight is harder then percieved by most, for mayweather.

Its one thing to know that Mayweather has issues arrising with his age, activity, and out of the ring life.... that just may cost him big when he comes up against the right fighter.

But it isnt this fight (imo)

It's irrelevant because I don't believe anyone is going to win many rounds against Mayweather. Not Cotto, not Pacquiao, not Martinez, not anyone in or around his weight class. It will only happen when Mayweather slows down too much, which is liable to happen any fight. Cotto stands just a good of a chance of beating Mayweather now as he ever did. Bottom line, if you're not excited about this fight now, then you never should have been.

I've been up for the fight since it's announcement; most people were irate when Pac negotiations fell through again for possibly the final time. Cotto represents a legitimate challenge and Floyd is largely taken for granted by a vast majority of fans. Miguel is coming for more than a pay day I believe, and will have his moments particular early on in the fight. Mayweather's skill level and conditioning are on another level however, and this has late stoppage (w/ 8oz) or UD written all over it for me. What we dont know and wont until May 5th is how much Floyd's speed and reflexes have regressed. It could be the fight, and it gives it a little ominous, threatening vibe.

For all of mayweathers age, for all of his inactivity, and out of the ring choas, he has remained masterful at his craft.

The weight and size is a non issue. Cotto himself shouldnt even be fighting at 154, the weight will mean nothing on fight night. In fact, I expect Mayweather to be the stronger fighter.

On top of that, Cotto, in my eyes, has lost much of his form. His combos now are often sloppy and sluggish. Not to mention the mental differences between a fighter who has conceeded defeat more then once, and one that was undefeated, destroying his opponents and riding high.

The thought that a somewhat slower, somewhat sloppier, damage riddled Cotto at a weight he shouldnt be fighting at himself, has the same chance as he did in 2007 when he was at his complete prime, and an undefeated destroyer is faulty logic, because fighters do not age the same at all. You seem to be basing it on well cotto has slipped but mayweather has slipped too.... and while its true, they are not even close to the same as being as far removed from their forms in 2007, imo. Add that to the fact that Mayweather would have been the fav even in cottos prime, and it makes this fight even worse.

Mayweather has kept his abilities.... Cotto has not lost all of his by any means, but he has eroded a lot more then Mayweather has. In my opinion.

anyways, its just our opinions, you think I am wrong and I think youre wrong. At least now I get a clearer picture of that you are saying that Cotto doesnt have a chance, he just has the same chance that he did in his prime.

Please don't lecture me on faulty logic. In 2007, was Cotto a good defensive fighter? Did he have a right hand? Did he have good stamina? Did he a good chin? The answer is no to all of these questions. And if you don't see how a fighter like that plays right into Mayweather's hands, then I don't know what to tell you. Any figther that's slower than Mayweather, doesn't move his head, and fights flat footed, Mayweather will walk right through them. That's Cotto in 2007.

That Cotto had all sorts of balance issues. He had to plant his feet and really setup to deliver that left hook. With that stance of his, he would've had serious trouble getting out of the way of straight right hand. Yeah, Cotto threw his left hook to the body more. But guess what happens when you throw those body shots like that? You're open to the countershot. So now you have Cotto, winging left hooks, against a great counterpuncher whose defense is setup perfectly to take a way a left hook. That's a recipe for trouble.

Is Cotto in his physical prime? Of course not, but neither is Mayweather. He's a smarter fighter now though. His balance is better, he's more aware of his limitaions, and he has more energy throughout the fight. This fight is also at a weight at which Cotto is more comfortable, and he's going against a Mayweather who has been extremely inactive over the last couple of years. I don't care who you are, fighting 4 rounds in 2 years is going to negatively affect you. How much is anyone's guess.

Then why are you even in this thread commentating? You shouldn't care about what I say, or even about this fight. I assume you won't even be watching the fight.
