He called Geroge Foreman, asking him to fight Norton because Ali said I can't beat him and they are going to take my title away from me. Foreman was bitter Ali never gave him a re-match, but after this call the two developed a good friendship. Ali was great friends with actor Jack Nicholson. Jack admitted betting against Ali in several fights, including Liston, Frazier, and Foreman. Post boxing Jack often acted as Ali's personal escorted sports and media events. Martin Luter King criticized Ali's separatist views in the 1960's. Often viewed as something of a genius, Ali actually graduated 175th out of 175 people in his high school class. Ali never threw his gold medal into the river. It's a fiction story, and one confirmed that never happened by his closest friends. Prior to the Black Muslims telling him what to say about Vietnam, Ali actually tried to register in Texas to avoid the draft. One of the reasons Ali took the third re-match with Frazier was to have *** with his mistress on the other side of the world. Ali's wife flew out to Manila and confronted him. Ali's birth name was Cassius Marcellus Clay. This is well known, however did you know another man had this name before? He was Kentucky slave owner turned abolitionist.
it is a dumb thing... ali was naturally very very smart, simply he was a bad student he did hate it because he was not patient, very different things
Who ever viewed Ali ,"as something of a genius"? Though compared to you he looks pretty smart! "The fact is, I was never too bright in school. I ain't ashamed of it, though. I mean, how much do school principal's make a month? "I said I was 'The Greatest', I never said I was the smartest!"
I knew most of those things. You missed out one of the most important ones. Regarding the story of SRR and Ali.
what history? that robinson did not want to be his trainer /manager? everybody knows this **** except maybe re****ed people like johnthomas1
On social media and at some conservative outlets, Ali was attacked for his opposition to the Vietnam War and refusing to fight. But Ali didnt dodge anything. As Rares Tom Mullen explains: Ali never dodged the draft; he opposed it, accepting the legal consequences without any attempt to evade them. He didnt flee to Canada or enroll in college to obtain a deferment. From the moment he learned of his induction, Ali stood firmly in the proud tradition of civil disobedience, saying just take me to jail. Ali even showed up for his draft selection to make an explicit statement that he would not be taking part in it. On April 28, 1967, Ali reported to the Military Entrance Processing Station in Houston, Bustles Abby Johnston notes. As officials called his name for induction to the Army to fight in the Vietnam War, he wouldnt step forward. Thats not running away. It was saying, Here I am, Im not fighting in your war, now do with me what you will. You want some draft dodgers? How about these? Donald Trump Mitt Romney Rush Limbaugh **** Cheney Bill Clinton
And there's a good case for calling Muhammad the greatest IRISH boxer of all time He was one eighth Irish.
This. Einstein didn't do very good in school either. Geniuses come in different flavors. Woody Allen is a genius of romantic films. Dave Chapelle is a genius of comedy. Ali was a genius at boxing, and interacting with people.
Yup...Ali's Great Grandfather was Abe Grady. He moved to Kentucky from Ireland in the mid 1860's. Ali's mom Odessa was Abe Grady's granddaughter.
Thomas Hauser said Ali was fed the line to say about Vietnam. Did you know tht? The young Ali was smitten by the Black Muslim movement of the time, a separatist group who called the majority of citizens devils among other things. In my opinion, if it was beneficial for the Black Muslim movement to have war in Vietnam, Ali would have enlisted for his religion, which if you know anything about history or the code of their book is rather a war like. Ali would not have been a soldier. He would have had a Joe Louis like of moral role. I don't care if Trump, Clinton et all dodged the draft. When the topic becomes uncomfortable for you to ready, you have a need to list others, as it that changes anything.
Yes I knew that, but it wasn't fed him by the Black Muslims as you say. Why would the topic be uncomfortable to me?:huh Ali knew he would have a morale boosting role and that he would not have seen action that was not a concern for him,he simply would not endorse the war because he felt it was against his religion and it was. He was prepared to go to jail for 5 years and lose his career and livelihood rather than compromise his beliefs. As it was he lost 3 and a half years of his prime and untold $$$$$ He didn't dodge the draft as those I named did ,he refused to step forward at his induction. As usual you don't know what the f*ck you're talking about!
So you're saying he was too scared to be a morale boost in the army? Or that he was mindlessly following orders? Yeah, sounds like Ali alright, mindlessly following orders.
Also Mendoza, are you American? I think we've talked about this a couple times, but you don't seem to truly understand the racial tension of the 60's. You seem to take offense to Ali calling white people the devil, but do you truly understand what the white establishment was doing to black americans? Phsycially assaulting them on a regular basis. Killing them and getting off scott free. Forcing them into subservient communities, and treating them like animals. It didn't just happen at the top, it happened with your neighbors, local shops, schools, everywhere around you. Some of the things that happened were ISIS-eque. Bombing churches, hanging people, dragging them from their cars, and other kinds of disgusting torture. He's not talking about your uncle and your cousins who are great people I'm sure. He was talking about a vast majority of white americans 60 years ago who either ****ed up many peoples lives because of their skin color, or condoned it. Till today racism remains a big issue in our country. An entire political party is devoted to supporting people victimized by racism, and the other party is devoted to not doing that. We've come a very long way since the 90's. We live in a society today that's leaps and bounds more sophisticated than the last century. But the dregs of our past remain visible today. So when you take offense to Ali doing something as harmless as calling white people the devil, you sound like you have 0 culture. And you choose to define him at his most controversial moments as a younger man, versus the reconciliation and wisdom he had as an older man. Says a lot.
