Abraham was much better than I thought, but the only other fight I give him without thinking is Froch. As a matter of fact, I think almost everybody in this tourney (with the exception of Taylor) beats Froch. The European refs in this first showing of the super 6 were ridiculous. Abraham had his trunks WAY too ****in' high and some of those "low blows" were bull****. But it wouldn't have mattered, Abraham had him lost and confused. I also notice that this tourney GREATLY benefits the favorites in the super 6. If you look at the second and third stage, AA fights Dirrell as opposed to the more technically proficient Ward and then finishes off with the easiest and best win of his career against the completely defenseless Froch. AA has a pretty decent challenge in Dirrell, but after reviewing the Froch fight, I'm just not sure if Dirrell has seen enough 12 round fights to really stay alive in Abraham's strongest point in the fight. Whereas if he were to fight Ward...he'd have a fighter whose fast, conservative, versatile, and has good stamina. I won't even go into the size dimensions. Then Kessler has ONE challenge in Ward...then goes on to face Froch who again...will get KTFO (3 points) and then Taylor :-( (6 points total). The outcome is obvious. Watching him struggle a bit with Perdomo shows me that he'd most likely have issues with either Dirrell or Ward. SO he can in fact LOSE to Ward and still be in the **** because of his easy ass setup fights next. I think it'd be fair for Taylor for his health's sakes...if he can switch for a rematch with Froch and have AA fight Kessler. As opposed to suffering serious brain damage against Kessler. This way both favorites can run into a serious challenge against each other. Something tells me though that they deliberately saved this fight for the finals seeing as this for some strange reason seems like a 50-50 fight. Let's say Abraham loses to Dirrell (2 pts for Dirrell) and KO's Froch...that's 6 ****in' points. Same boat as Kessler. Both on top with 6 points. Then let's say Ward goes undefeated in his 3 fights and all by decision. That's 6 points. So that means Kessler with 6 (KO'ing Froch and Taylor, but losing to Ward) AA with 6 (KO'ing Taylor and Froch, but losing to Dirrell) Ward with 6 (decisions everyone...considering he's gonna be in the US) Froch with 2 (Dec against Dirrell, but KO'd by Kessler and AA) Dirrell with 2 (Dec against AA, but lost dec. against Ward and Froch) Taylor with 0 How the **** does this get solved? :huh Who gets selected as Seed 1 amongst the 3 with 6 pts? :huh:nut And let's say they have some sort of "method" for fixing this...it wouldn't surprise me if for some strange reason...we don't see Abraham or Kessler paired up. I think they want this to be the conclusion...and sadly it won't be once Ward shows his mettle and skill against all of these guys. Goosen did a great job at keeping his fighter at home for the first 3 fights considering he's not a big puncher and would probably see himself in Dirrell's shoes. Overall though...I think it'll come down to Ward vs. Kessler II
That would be interesting...I think he loses both. One by KO and the other by decision if it's not in Germany.
I do think Kessler has quite a favourable draw. Ward first up I've said all along is the toughest fight, I think this could be the winner of the whole thing. Plus its in Oakland, its a tough assignment. But then even if he loses he has Froch who is suited to his style, likely at home in Denmark. Then Taylor who could potentially be coming off of like 4 losses.
I do not think that the group stages favor any fighters.. For example Ward has to fight Kessler but on the other hand all his fights are on his hometurf while AA will travel 2 times (Dirrel in US Froch in Nottingham). Froch will probably also have all his fights at home but therefore he has to fight Kessler and AA.. the youngsters got to fight each other... I think all in all the group stages are pretty balanced
Point one: no European refs in the two matches so far. Point two: confusing. You seem to predict that Ward, Kessler and Abraham will win the most fights and then say that they have the easiest draw on the basis that they will win the most fights. That doesn't really stand up to logical scrutiny.
IMHO, if you're a fighter in this tournament and not named Taylor, then you have chances of winning it all and it should not be a shocker to anyone.
OKay...allow me to rephrase point one. Judges picked as "neutral" for European fights are RIDICULOUS! Point 2: I actually stated that Ward would win the most and AA and Kessler would be not too far behind...there's 6 contestants...I don't see how that's hard to understand when you have Taylor and Froch in there.
Actually...now that you put it that way...it DOES seem balanced, but you're looking at it from a bigger scale in a negotiation view. I'm looking at this in a smaller scope of just styles. And it seems to favor Kessler and AA.
It would be truly shocking if Froch won this tourney. I don't believe he will get very far. I'd be surprised if he won another fight..... questionable if he won one already.
You all auto presume froch is gonna be KO by kessler and AA, If he can survive first few rounds then i think he has just a good chance of KO them. I dont say this because i think he super skilled but purely because they stand still and block more than dodge. He will land a lot on both fighters just like they will land a lot on him. It will come down to who can take the most so i dont think any fight vs froch should be classed as a fix and easy 3 points. If anything i think they tried to give froch the easiest path with a fighter they presumed would be to green and 2 fighters who will stand and trade. Probally suicide for froch but who knows lol
The set-up for the Sauerland Six is very, very, simple. If a fighter has less than a 25% chance to beat Abraham and/or Kessler, Sauerland sent out an invitation to join. If a fighter has a good chance to beat AA or Kessler, no invitation. It really is that simple, and why people can't see that is beyond me.
