Duran has been very well covered in this thread, and it's better to watch full fights, but here is a good Duran highlight:

Let's see if I can get this right.

When leonard fights his fight he beats duran ten out of ten.

Barkley's style was made for duran.

Duran lost to all the great fighter's he beat.

Duran was really a natural lmw.

Uno mas proves duran loses to anyone quicker than him.

Hearns beat better men for his title fights.

(Did I get in before mag )

    All good wins...

He went 1-2 vs. Leonard and was stopped (quit) once, the win was very close.

He went 2-1 (1) vs. DeJesus

    Fought pretty dirty vs. Buchanan.

The decision vs. Barkley really could have went either way.

Crushed by Hearns (LKOby2... could have counted to a million), lost decisions to Benitez, Hagler (gave Hagler a tougher fight than expected though), Hagler's brother Robbie Sims (split-decision), and Kirkland Laing (split-decision) among others.

Duran is an all-time great but he gets put in a mythical place by some. This "Montreal Duran" they speak of is overrated a bit. People forget how close his first fight with Leonard was, and the fact that Leonard got better after this fight. Leonard had beat Benitez but had yet to face Duran (learned a lot in their first 2 fights) or Hearns among others. Leonard had his way with Duran in their 2nd and 3rd fights.

I think it was a combination of Leonard not doing what he was supposed to do... and Duran being great that night.

Oh, I guess you gave every close round to Duran? The fight was close... two of the three judges had Duran up by a point, the other had Duran up by two points.

A competitive fight is Benitez W15 Duran (I had Benitez up by 4 points), a close fight is Duran W15 Leonard (a 1 point fight IMO).

I agree. I had Duran winning 11 rounds. Just watch the 13th. How anyone can gve that to Leonard, I'll never know. Just sent off for the complete career sets of Margarito (includes the Sergio M. fight and other early ones not in most sets), Pacquioa (also has not otherwise sold fights) and Jung Koo Chang from boxingcareersets. Look forward to getting them.

Well, if you think Duran won 11 out of 15 rounds vs. Leonard in their first fight... I can see why!

the fight in Montreal was a clear victory for Duran. He was the better fighter that night and it wasnt really controversial.

As far as clean punching and who took the punishment that night Ray got his asskicked. Duran had him shook 4 or 5 times. Leonard dug deep to hang in there and thats about as far as it goes.

    Duran wasnt hurt once.

I've never seen him fight, but read all about his career in the magazines at the time.
