Somebody's 1 has to go, how big is GGG vs Canelo if GGG takes a loss?

Would this fight still do great numbers if GGG loses his mystque?
GGG's marketability seems to be built around an aura of invincibility.
If GGG takes a loss how many will instantly jump off the bandwagon?

Canelo has the love of a nation and he is still young enough to rebuild, if GGG loses he will be past his prime by the time he is rebuilt and may take extra losses.

    Thoughts?

If Golovkin loses, his already poor stock takes a huge hit.

He doesn't have any huge wins. He doesn't seem to take any risks. Add a loss and he will ve dismissed as pure hype.

Hardcore fights fans would still appreciate his above average skill set, but most casuals would likely dismiss him as he has been marketed as an unstoppable wrecking machine.. Once that myth is busted how will they sell GGG?

GGG is only a great fighter he is not invincible, he could very well lose @ 160. He probably won't lose @ 154 because he would never make the weight unless he got cancer, I can't see him fighting with cancer.

James5000 do you know of or support any other fighters other than CEJ?

Because I have a feeling if he fights and loses to Golovkin we won't see you again.

CEJ has a very good chance to dethrone him, resumes don't win fights and betting odds don't help you when you are getting hit 3 punches to your 1.

This wouldn't be anywhere near the biggest upset though would it.
Fury vs Wlad is as big

They both stand to lose a lot, GGG more so, that's why they will both carefully select their opponents until they meet.

Canelo already proved that he can pull good PPV numbers even with an L on his resume, GGG's rep and limited PPV appeal rests solely on his ''unbeatable'' mystique which would be crushed with a loss.

People will still want to see it, even if Golovkin loses. So yes.
