Pac- Cotto was the first time they made that stupid trophy. They were going to try and put one up for Mayweather-Mosley but were essentially told to sit and spin. and ****tardedly enough, I heard they put one up for Morales-Limond if i recall. I don't see how that's a historic fight but then again they wanted some of their money.
The original intention was to replace the NABF title and the interim title with the Silver Championship. It would mark out the man who was next in line for a WBC world title shot. However, due to the loss of sanctioning fees, the WBC will never get rid of the NABF or interim titles.
Wow, they even invented a title for top contenders. Look for them to next introduce interim silver titles and super silver titles
I actually dont mind this. Belts over and over again gets tiring. Its fun watching the old fights like Ali/Frazier III for a big trophy instead of just a belt.
It's the replacement for the interim title. As usual there are a few things wrong though. Firstly Morales and Limond both weighed in over 140 but were still allowed to fight for the title. By winning the title Morales is the no.1 contender to Alexander's belt despite never having fought there. He also could have become Soto's mandatory if he'd have liked, but he turned down the chance. Also they haven't just turned all their interim titles into Silver ones. At middleweight Zbik has held an interim title for ages but Chavez jr. has the silver title and is therefore Martinez's mandatory. Zbik still has an interim title but it's worthless unless Martinez vacates.
:good officially it gets rid of the interim title...reality it allows promoters to make more 12 rd matches where neither fighter is titlist
yes it was up for a diamond belt it said diamond belt on the card when i was tryin to get the fight with my super big satellite lol
The WBC just needs more money ever since Graciano Rocchigiani sued their asses for giving his belt away to Roy Jones.
I found it funny before Pac-Cotto when the WBC guy was waving his stupid diamond belt around and got fed up when Buffer didn't mention it.
its not as cool as WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title WBC Latino middleweight title Philippines Games & Amusement Board (GAB) flyweight title WBC Mundo Hispano light welterweight title WBC Youth World minimum weight title WBO Asia Pacific featherweight title IBF Pan Pacific Youth welterweight title
lemme check my iPod..i have that fight on there... hahahahah. yea he's moving around to make sure the camera gets a load of it. then once he realized they weren't going to mention it he almost rolls his eyes and just tucks it under his arm.
do you know what the Mundo Hispano belt even ****ing means? Very hispanic or something? I know very is Mucho but my spanish is shaky at best. the Youth titles I sorta get if you're under 18 but fighting professionally.
WBO Inter-Continental light welterweight title vacant World Professional Boxing Federation welterweight title they also have ...believe it or not WBC INTERNATIONAL Silver title
