Someone fill me in on Setanta problems?

    I here what you say, however as Sky have been around for a long time most sport fans would already be forking out for that subscrition then told you have got to set up another direct debit puts you off. Whereas a free to air channel would catch many remote controller flickers who may want to purchase an assortment of PPV offers

    Setanta need to get political and speak to Sky sports and the competition commission for some leeway, and state their case. It will be anti competitive in the sports market if they go out of business...

    Negotiating a reduction in what they pay for the EPL is the only way out of this mess.

    Clearly their financial backers are deserting the sinking ship, as 3 million is nothing.

    maybr in English football it jsnae,but to some of the wee Scottish teams (like Glasgow Rangers) that 3 million can keep them solvent for a while ..

    Thanks alot for all the responses, i now have a clearer idea! As someone else said it is a shame that something cant be worked out.

    It's a nice idea but the Premier league with Sky's backing couldn't make PPV work so there is no way the Scottish league could or quite frankly the vast majority of sporting events. Subscription was the only way. They reportedly have 1.2 million subscribers and need 2 million to break even. I don't know what they could of done differently without seeing how much they spent for things. I suspect they have over spent on some licenses. Hopefully ESPN will buy them and give us a strong sports channel

    If setanta goes this will be like the pre- judah v cotto time all over again. Sky Sports barely showing live bouts from stateside!
