I've expressed my discontent for these one-sided rematch clauses before. World champions deserve sporting and financial respect including contenders who become world champions half way through these scabby contracts. (Andy Ruiz for example.)

Unfortunately Cohen was no match for Hearn here. Hearn often behaves like a spoiled child but he's the best promotional talker in the game. Only poos his pants when fighters like Chisora, Fury or Haye have a go. Most promoters are no match for Hearn in a slagging match and Cohen couldn't put his valid argument together competently unfortunately. Hearn made him look silly.

Cohen should've thrown a table at Hearn. That's how you promote a fight these days :D

A champ deserves an opportunity to a rematch

Not sure how its Hearns fault Katie Taylor is the A side and bringing the money to the fight and the other women's side signed off on the contract but i'm sure rapid anti hearn types will twist themselves into finding a way. They didn't have to take it. They did.

    End of issue.

Tbh I think Cohen showed too much dignity, could’ve gone further but chose not to, he is the bigger and better man.

Taylor is only the a side because of Hearns backing and his skullduggery. She lost her last fight and is ignoring all her mandatories

This is true. Hearn is quite witty so it will take an articulate and also intimidating individual to tear him apart at a press conference. When Haye went in on Hearn at the first Bellew press conference Hearn was completely rattled and resorted to jibes about Haye's financial health. That's why I'm desperate for Fury or his father or uncle to go at it with him at a press conference because they would destroy him. Frampton who is articulate also destroyed Hearn at the Quigg press conference and throughout the build up but the impact is lessened when it's a midget doing the talking.

For what it's worth Kugan has recorded an interview featuring both Cohen and Hearn so hopefully we'll have some good content there when he uploads it.

You mean Hearn is doing a good promoting and looking after his fighter? BOO!!

Taylor would probably be A side without Hearn anyway. She's a big name in the womens game even before turning pro.

Why is it Eddie's fault that this promoter can't negotiate a rematch clause for his fighter?

I'm assuming they've already negotiated a deal and signed a contract so why b.itch about it after.

Like Eddie said he's not bothered they have a rematch clause.

If they didn't like the deal why sign. Glad he got put in his place for his b.itch move.

Well not if the objective is to get her the clause, because once the fight is signed there's little to no leverage left. If the object is to create some headlines and drama for the panto crowd though it could be a good tactic. Ultimately that's all this is, grist to the mill that is the promotion.

Think Hearn's excuse is weak. If Taylor wins a nail biter with multiple knockdowns for example, the fans would be baying for a rematch. Also, contracting for fights in the future raises integrity issues IMO. There's a massive financial incentive for Taylor to win now because she has fights already contracted for. Anyone who thinks that doesn't increase the likelihood of bribery of refs and judges is kidding themselves. Just look at the Fury fight at the weekend when the fight really ought to have been stopped but it wasn't because Fury is contracted to box Wilder.

It did look planned. How boring are most pre fight press conferences? How many times can one hear the same platitudes being trotted out? Any writer knows that conflict is the lifeblood of drama, so why not put those clashes centre stage? The best part is that every person who is so outraged by the latest perfidious action of Eddie Hearn to the point they post about it is helping to make the fight more public, increasing its digital footprint.

Could be the same on this occasion, especially after they say the page views from the last presser.

Not disputing they took the contract but given Hearn is willing to gas about contract terms. It is fair game for someone to actually have a pop back.
