    Agreed.

Not to mention that Saunders is a great six round fighter. That's no good when you lack power and a guy like Canelo has it for the full twelve.

Canelo would see Billy off within 8-10. When has Billy even operated against a guy on Cotto's level, let alone outclassed him? He struggled with CEJ! And he has an even worse ring iq than Canelo!

I don't think the Khan fight can be compared with Saunders. I mean, Saunders would need to be on his game big time of course but I think he can outbox Canelo (on the assumption he can work on his fitness too). Saunder's has good footwork and can be evasive, plus he has much quicker hands and has a solid chin. If he can stay out the way of the body shots you mention early on then I don't see why not. Movement is what beats Canelo

Movement does but you still need to be able to work. Saunders isn't busy enough and as BrixtonBomber said he is weak in the 2nd half of fights. Canelo would eventually break him down. Smith got nailed to the body as well, canelo is a good body shot puncher and BJS is soft.

Yeah, but Liam Smith isn't very good. I said in my other post that this is working on the assumption that Saunders can work his stamina issues out as they're going to prevent him winning many meaningful fights in the future. On ability though, I do think he's capable of beating Canelo.

If he can make 160 at roughly 15% body fat then the maths tells us that he can make 147 at 8% body fat.

I always hear boxing fans say 'ah but that's just not his body type, some people just don't have the body type to get ripped' literally everyone has the ability to gain muscle or lose fat. anyone can be 8% body fat, and losing his unnecessary fat is hardly going to hinder bjs, he quite clearly has AT LEAST 13lbs to lose before he reaches 8% body fat. It's science, and anyone claiming he couldn't lose that amount of fat can't have ever been involved with fitness/weightlifting/nutrition.

No it doesn't. It depends on your natural hormone profile. I'll leave it that though because I'd rather talk boxing here than dieting.

Bellew was starving himself to make 175 almost quite literally yet still had a pudgy physique. Go figure.

Bellew was clearly doing the weight wrong though, trying to drain himself of water etc instead of focusing on the fat he was carrying, same with billy joe imo. Draining and starving yourself will get you to a certain weight but it's ridiculous when you still have fat you could lose. Billy joe could quite easily lose 13lbs of fat with the right nutrition. But most people/trainers involved in boxing don't have a clue about that side of things and just rattle off stuff about 'not being built like that' and 'natural weight'.

Overall I think you're right that he should just be at LMW, just making the point that it comes down to his laziness towards training that he is carrying enough excess weight to be potentially 2 weight classes above where he could be.
