Someone Please Explain European Fight Fans and Their Dislike for Roy Jones Jr?

    Every thread I go into with Jones in it, we see the euro guys in their talking smack, and every thread started on him degrading him and his career is most always started by a poster form across the pond. Not just here, but other forums as well.


    What gives? :huh

    Wasn't really fan of boxing when Roy Jones was prime, (I was only a kid at the time) but it seems to be because he never fought the likes of Benn, Eubank, Steve Collins and Dariusz Michalczewski it seems to be fans of these fighter hate him for not fighting the above fighters.

    I'm a European fight fan and I love Roy Jones jr.
    In fact I think that in his prime, he was the p4p best boxer of all time

    the fighters you mention just reinforces that you dont get to fight the best fighters in the world unless you go get them

    take daniel geale for a recent example - he's got plenty of credibility from his last 2 fights, but the martinez/chavez winner isnt 'dodging' him if he fails to court the US networks and intro himself to casual boxing fans

    There isn't really. More perhaps to do with fans of certain fighters not liking Roy Jones Jr.

    A bit like fans of certain fighters don't like Calzaghe, Kessler, Ottke etc.

    Goes for fans on both sides of Atlantic even if they are unevenly spread. I'm a Euro and I think he's brilliant. Also a big fan of the Euro super middleweights.
