I just don't understand how a guy that big can be that good. I wanted Brewster to win but after 2 rounds I knew it was a lost cause. Wladimir's jab is just too much for anyone. His right hand is devastating and his defense is sound. You gotta figure that he only needs to survive a handful of big punches per fight if he's gonna be that difficult to hit. Plus, his handspeed is ridiculous for a guy his size. Steward was right. Nobody's gonna beat him from now on. He's the true champ if u ask me. I don't need unificated titles to tell me who the best fighter is in the division.
He's that good if you stand at range and let him pick you apart like both Byrd and Brewster did. He will obliterate you. You have to negate his height and jab with pressure. A swarmer has the best chance against Wlad. You can't be afraid to walk through the jab and take some right hands in order to get off shots. A tall order, but look what Sanders did, assaulted him basically, threw a bunch of punches and got to him. Ibragimov is small, but if he'd go back to his old swarming style, he'd have a chance. I also think a guy like Chagaev would make a good fight. You absolutely cannot stay on the outside and hope to win.
BS. He isn't champion because he has not fit the criteria to be crowned their champion. It's the same reason Pacman hasn't been crowned the champion at 130 by Ring. Hell, both times Ring has made the mysterious ruling of "special circumstances" to crown a ring champion recently it was in FAVOR of a EURO fighter. Vitaly Klitscho (#1) beating Sanders (#3) and Calzaghe (#1) beating Lacy (#3). So what are you on about?
Either way, the supposed American bias has little evidence from Ring at least recently. They have no reason to make an exception. Wlad has shown that he can be beaten. With an unbeaten Chagaev and unbeaten Imbrigamov about to fight, it would be unfair to just assume Wlad can beat them.
Sanders didnt swarm Wlad, he baited him and lured him in close, then he countered off the ropes ad hurt him. From there he started swarming because there was nothing coming back.
Where did I say you have to be unbeaten to be the HW champion? I am saying that Klitscho needs to beat some of the other champions to be the champion. You just want to hand him the damn title. He needs to beat the top rated guys in the division to get that distinction. So no, I am not kidding. We aren't just going to consider Wlads wins...we are considering his losses his well. And if 2 of the champions fight, in this case Chagaev and Ibragimov, and unify, then no way in hell should they make an exception and hand Wlad the title.
i would looooooooooooooooooove to see wlad vs valuev i dont know how wlad would do when he is fighting someone who he actually has a reach and heigh disadvantage against. he wouldnt be able to keep him at range at a safe distance and just sharp shoot the whole time. it would be an extremely interesting fight.
Totally agree. And one more thing about Valuev, he dislikes to be controlled. And when he gets hit, he gets angry and fires back right away. So he would not be just in Wlad's jab range. Vitali-Valuev is a good one too. So lets see the huge guys collide, no more Davids vs. Goliaths.
ya i really hope one of those fights happen. theres a good chance it could i think klitschko would have some serious problems handling valuev. even if wlad does win i doubt it would be with a devastating knockout or even a lopsided decision. plus, valuevs a tough guy i don't see him quitting on the stool.
Wlad has a much better hand speed than Valuev so unless Valuev goes for the knockout and manages to catch him, Wlad will win this fight on points by outpointing the slower Valuev.
Ok let's take a look at a few things: 1.) Wladimir's opponents are forced by him to stay on the outside. He dictates how the fight will play out with his jab. His jab is in constant motion so just waiting for an opening can be a very frustrating exercise as you're constantly being hit with a jab, pawing or not. 2.) Yes, you have to be fearless and walk through the right hands he throws. Now, outside of Sam Peter, do u see any iron-chinned top heavyweights that can actually do it or are even willing to do it? You get hit with enough of those right hands and you'll be thinking twice about coming forward (assuming you're still standing). If you're even gonna suggest Valuev u might as well just stop right there as Wlad would pick him apart. 3.) Assuming the opponent does get the opportunity to throw a big punch, that fighter will most likely be lunging forward (the other champs are all shorter) so the punch will be telegraphed allowing Wlad to simply back away or in the case of a left hook, catch it with his right hand. You're just not gonna get many opportunities against this guy. 4.) Emmanuel Steward is the X-factor. With his knowledge, Wladimir will be prepared for any and every style. Not to mention that Wlad's got 50 some odd fights and a ton of amateur pedigree under his belt. What does this equal? A lengthy reign at the top for Wladimir barring a freak knockout which Emmanuel Steward will make sure won't happen.
Valuev is easy target to wlad. His so slow and easy to hit. Wlad can use all his strengt and punching power. read: a'la wolfgram
