People trash jones all the time in this forum.....But it all ends once someone brings up Tarvers name. Then you see people turn on tarver and promote Roy Jones (in my opinion, the praise is a good thing, I enjoyed Roy and his career.....kinda wish it was over now though) and absolutly rib into Tarver.
Is it me? or is it that people here dont think Jones is a wash, but more so, they are dissapointed and still kind off eeked out by the thought of the roy jones K.O......s

for me, being a fan, I am still bitter about it, but thats the way she goes....Anyone els feel this way?

Interesting observation. Logic isn't the strong suit of this forum (or many others for that matter) so you shouldn't be all that surprised right?

Some people have a hard time believing that their hero "superman" got ktfo. Just goes to show that no boxers are invincible....or any fighter for that matter

I've noticed a lot of RJJ bandwagon jumpers as well. A lot of posters jumped off his bandwagon and onto the whole "Glass Jaw Jones" train when Tarver landed that left.

Personally I never liked Jones, but respect him as a generational talent. The hate is unwarranted, though there will always be a strong dislike among historians due to what was perceived as Roy's unwillingness to meet the best post 1994.

Tarver has turned out to be far, far worse for the sport than Roy ever was though, so maybe that has something to do with all the hate for his goofy suckalipin milkdud ass. :think

Roy Jones Jr as every other fighter should, be judged on how good he was in his prime. In his prime, noone at or around 168/175 would ever beat him, period.

Roy is a GRETA FIGHTER he has never been beaten below 170 and yes he was Ko'd but he came back and beat two up and coming fighters, and Tito so let's see him up the ante.

In the Tito fight I saw the OLD skills and Power, So I believe he'll be champ again and retire at 42, there's no threat out there in the LHWT division Dawson will loose to Johnson, Woods will beat Tarver and then we should have a Jones vs Johnson II and a Woods vs Jones II and Rjj will be the Unified Champion again

whats funny on ESB is that people think you can't say something negative about a fighter, and then say something positive about the same fighter.

You either have to be a hater or a nuthugger, ESB can't grasp that there is a huge zone in the middle.

I can say that Jones should have fought DM, but that Jones is still the greatest fighter of a generation, without contradicting myself.

I've noticed people on this forum don't like success. If Floyd loses then for a short time everyone will hate in him but eventually people will fawn over him. A boxer has to almost have to lose at least once to eventually get respected here.

Okay cept him. But look at Jones, everyone loathed him till he lost and eventually people came around to like him. If RJJ had stayed undefeated alot of people would be bitching about him.

When he's retired (and he basically is already), people will realize how special he was and his stock will go up. It's already happening. Fighters usually get more credited a few years after they're retired.

What I find funny is how people weave these unrealistic stories that they don't know what they are talking about when it comes to Roy. Everything is his fault, if a fight doesn't happen, it was all Roy's fault, forget the crocket management like Don King, forget the fact that people were offered money but because of issues didn't take the fight or didn't want to, forget all of the many variables that existed which could not make the fight happen. But o man, somehow it’s all Roy's fault. It's Roy's fault that the B-hop fight didn't happen in 02, it's Roy's fault that he didn't fight Benn, Eubanks, Collins, DM, and everyone else under the sun. It's Roy's fault that he didn't fight G-man, since g-man became disabled. It's so ridiculous.

And what's even more misunderstood, is the name "Reluctant Roy." People think this has to do with competition, NO. He was willing to fight anyone, the point of that name had to do with his performances in the ring after SMW, he became reluctant to trade punches, or to mix it up more. He pretty much fought fights like a sparing session and some of his fights became real dull, carrying guys 12 rounds when he could've fought with more and stopped them earlier, make it exciting. But misinformed individuals are pathetic in their attempt to take away from what he actually did. So being haters it wouldn't matter either way.

I think the funniest thing about Roy is that hopkins fans have the nerve to criticize Roy's resume.

I have no problem with success. All boxers should be given credit when due, but all too often along with success comes arrogance. Floyd is a great example. I appreciate his skills. I do not appreciate him throwing money around and I hate the way he claims he's greater than Ali, Robinson, et al.
