in 1987 a film Something Great.....The Les Darcy Story. was being produced by Boulevard Films, an Austrailian Company. Paule Cremo, Location Scout wrote a letter to a local person looking for information about the training camp. Was the film ever made? I don't know. He sent along a few pages of the script. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck in your research. Ann Roche Local History Room Goshen, NY The above cut and past is a question from Goshen back to you Aussies.
Whats with all the Les Darcey posts past week? No disrespect to him, but he is barley ever mentioned, past few days he gets several threads a day . What is it, Les Darcey week?
there was a film made of darcy, like a documentary when he wasalive. it is still the missing holy grail of aussie sport. therer may be a copy in the us. be worth millions.
The forum's become over-run by Aussies, who always make sure to pray to the spirit of Les Darcy before they eat their dinner.
Yes it would be..... and I'd be pleased to hear a sound recording of him talking (alas VERY impossible) it would be interesting to hear what he sounded like.... funny if it came out like Bradman's did in those early 30's recordings and film....... Thank god Bradman's record is indisputably the GOAT of cricket...... and plenty of film of the greatest.
For those who don't know, Bradman had a bit of a squeaky voice and a very unique accent, who knows, Darcy may have equalled 'THE DON" in his career, if only he'd lived. He certainly has Klompton's attention.
