Go back to the first Mosley/Vargas fight. Now Vargas is a SHELL of what he used to be. He was slow, lethargic and predictable in that fight. But he came forward, he was bigger and stronger and somewhat determined in that fight. Mosley was almost hitting him at will with the right hand and was winning the fight. But I remember starting to root for Vargas and he was coming on, and landing alot of shots on Mosley. He was pushing him back and landing his right hand as well. Was it the strength? The pressure? I'm not really sure, but Vargas wasn't getting dominated in that fight. This is actually making me question my Mosley TKO prediction. Cotto will most likely be as strong, if not stronger than Shane, he will be relentless as hell, and will keep the pressure on him. And if Slow, fat ass Vargas can land with consistency.....so can Cotto. :deal
You don't think maybe Mosley got worn down a bit? All the pushing him back. Collazo allowed Mosley to move around at his own pace....Vargas didn't.
exatly....... Mosely can't keep Cotto off which is why i've been saying Late TKO stoppage or UD for Cotto. Regardless after this fight, Mosely will never ever be the same fighter again. I guess we will seem come fight time
I agree and disagree. Good point about him fighting Vargas' fight at the end, I thought Mosely got a little lazy. But I do think that this Cotto is as strong as vargas (not as big physicaly, but he has more youth and keep it going longer).
Hmmm.I don't think Cotto does have the strength that Vargas had that night, but he does have more skill and better reflexes. The determining factor in Cotto-Mosely will be Miguels ability to handle the shots that Mosely will be hitting him with.Mosely is sturdier than Judah, who was dangerous until he dropped. How much more dangerous to Cotto will be the bigger, stronger, Mosely? Sure, Cotto will reach Mosely easier than Vargas did.But who will wear out first? Cotto was in down and in serious trouble against Torres, and wobbled against Corley, both 140 pounders.Judah had him stunned, sliced, and diced. Now he faces Mosley, who has been competitive against the top guys at 147-154.Mosleys already been hit as hard Cotto could hit him.But has Cotto been hit like Mosley can hit him?
yep. as long as cotto can take mosley's shots he's laughing here. i think he may get shaken once or twice. but i see cotto's workrate and pace outpointing shane. i was watching mosley-diaz last night and rd 3 was a bit of an eye opener. diaz came forward and put some quality shots in and troubled shane briefly. it certainly made ya wonder what cotto could do. :yep
this is the counter argument of course. And thats why I'm sticking with my prediction, but I am a little worried about Shane fading in this fight. The Collazo fight might have given a false sense of security in regards to his stamina since Collazo never really pushed him :deal
Mosley is more versatile and adaptable than Judah w/ more power and body work. He will give Cotto angles to offset the pressure and dig to the body of Cotto to keep him from coming on stronger in the late rounds. Cotto is tough, so I don't know if he will get stopped, but I do know that Mosley has enough left in the tank to drop Cotto once and win decisively.
In the first fight - didn't Vargas come to the ring around 165lbs. - when they were fighting at 154lbs. Vargas is naturally bigger and stronger than Mosley and he still had problems wtih him. Even though they both landed some good shots - Shane was never in any real trouble. Cotto is pretty good - but I doubt if it hits as hard as Vargas or Wright - or if he can take a shot like they can. That's been proven with the smaller guys that had Cotto in trouble. One good shot from Shane and down goes Cotto - but unlike the other fighters that Cotto fought - Shane's not going to let him off the hook. Speed kills and Cotto will find himself in the middle of the road.
