Holyfield seemed to connect with lots of left hooks. Traditionally, Holmes was vulnerable to right hands. What gives?

Two simple reasons - Holyfield was the best fighter Holmes had ever fought (Tyson was a worse match up for him tho and some might argue better than Holy) and Holmes was comfortably past his best days.

Probably because when Holmes was younger he moved more. Specifically he circled to his left as he jabbed. That is moving to the other guy's right hand. As I remember the Holyfield fight, he was mostly stationary and fought off the ropes.
That makes him a better target for the hook, which was Holyfield's best punch anyway.
