I was watching some Pac fights earlier this week and i noticed something. Well actually i noticed it before as i'm sure many people have (not least of all Mayweather) because it's really glaringly obvious.
For all the improvement he's shown in the use of his right hand, Pac still has some very bad habits when he throws his jab.
First of all he paws with it too much, but more importantly, he retacts his left and leaves his face wide open EVERY time he jabs.

I was watching Pacquiao-Cotto and just started thinking "wow, i can just see Mayweather's accurate, fast straight right busting him straight in the dome every time Pac reaches out with his right if he doesn't fix that".

Like i said, i don't consider myself very brilliant for spotting this, i'm sure many people have, i'm just wondering how big a factor it will be in the fight. Thoughts please.

Then someone should take advantage of it! Unfortunately no one seems to have it in them to capitolize on the flaws manny certianly has. He's an amazing fighter with all that said.

Hopefully Floyd can exploit it. Others can't. Floyd is the truth.

Funnily enough, I watched Pac-Cotto & Floyd-JMM back to back last night (yes, I was bored).... I noticed a few things each man could exploit in the other but way more in Mayweather`s favour.

There is nobody better than Pac at unloading punches when he has you trapped & covering up but when its centre ring, he leaves himself wide open when attacking before getting himself in a defensive position, Cotto caught him clean a good few times, Mayweather has better timing & speed than Cotto.
Also... after a brilliant 9th round were Pac almost stopped Cotto, Cotto frustrated Manny simply by boxing on the backfoot in the next round & a fair bit of round 11 too, he took the odd 1 or 2 but mostly kept Pac at bay & Pac was visibly frustrated that Cotto wouldnt engage.... how is he gonna fell when Mayweather is doing this A LOT & doing it without being gassed or beaten up aka not just surviving but landing clean, stinging shots into the bargain ?

On the other side of the coin, Floyd would avoid Marquez bombs by simply bending over & moving his head at times (little or no foot movement) & every now & then JMM would land the odd shot, nothing damaging but you have to think Pac & his faster flurries might get thru with more than just 1 at times, especially those weird angled power flurries that felled Cotto.

Im confident of a Mayweather win but these things must be taken into account, always good to annalyse rather than assume.

I don't think nobody has taken advantage of Pac's flaws and the openings he leaves. I think Marquez took advantage of them, even in the 2nd fight where he faced the 'new and improved' Manny.
He just didn't take advantage of them to a degree high enough for him to clearly win.
With Mayweather though it's a different ball-game, he's clearly much bigger and faster than Marquez, AND more skilled.

There are plenty of bad habits that Pacquiao has, and I'm sure Floyd will exploit most of them.

Everyone has 'flaws', but you can also call it a style.

Better still, the more unorthodox it is the more awkward that style is to overcome.

Just to make something clear, i didn't start this thread to dump on Manny or to suggest Floyd will have an easy time in there, i just noticed a certain detail about Pac's style that i think might cost him dearly against a guy as smart, sharp and fast as Floyd. Wether i'm right or not only time can tell, that's why they fight the fights (and thank God that they do).

That's a very good observation. Let's see if Mayweather can exploit that "weakness".

Your analysis is good but I thought that JMM was head hunting Mayweather a bit too much. He was not throwing body punches which is I feel is effective against Mayweather as Mayweather, although very fast with his hands, does not exactly move his feet in exchanges.

Mayweather's defense in actually moving his head away by bending sideways or backward, yet his main trunk is still within punching distance, with just a matter of getting through that guardd with his one arm protecting the body. IMO, if you throw enough punches , you could land some because mayweather does not really fight like SRL, meaning very mobile with very potent jab to control distance. zIn most mayweather fights, his opponents could close distance, it is the landing of punches that is the difference.
