Hatton was his worst own enemy in this fight.

He wanted to get too close, and overshot with a lot of his punches as a result, or allowed Floyd to spoil him. I don't think he had enough respect for Floyd's power, and ability to really shorten his punches up.... which he'd not really faced before.

Hatton for me always did his best work in ''Pacquiao range'', where he's able to draw leads and not be hit with them for starters, and then hop to the side and work the body and throw those Marquezzy left uppercuts too.

I think in some ways Floyd underestimated Hatton too, certainly in terms of his footspeed, but he probably overrated his inside fighting ability, which in fairness Michael Moorer did too when Hatton was fighting Pac.

Hatton's problem against all his best opponents was the tendency to become hook happy, didn't use his right hand at all hardly, which can be exploited by elite operators.

that version of hatton vs the paq he lost too. How does it go? Paq was a beast unleash and would have hurt hatton..

Pac was on steroids, that Version of Hatton would probably spark out the Pacman of today!

I hope Hatton comebacks, and ****ing fronts Manny Pac.

Also the Hatton vs Pacman fight could of easily ended in a Hatton win, due to the way Hatton fought Pacman! The fight was reduced to a who hits who harder first!

    And Pacman won! Simple!

It was hardly a master class performance from Pacman.

Yes. I love Marquez and all his usual "Mexicans are prepared to die in the ring", but I thought after he caught Floyd with a good one Floyd metaphorically *****-slapped him when he knocked Marquez down, and Marquez behaved himself the rest of the fight, as have most of Floyd's opponents. Hatton went out on his shield.

I can't see a way Ricky could have beat Floyd, but just a couple of differences (less ridiculous warm-up time/no Cortez/fighting in the UK etc) could have turned it into a really glorious defeat and maybe Floyd's roughest night.

I'm a huge floyd fan and a huge Hatton fan, mainly because I've got a big black **** and because I can sniff an ounce of coke without ever having to come down.

Lol on a serious note I think had that fight been in the uk Ricky would have won, kill me now for saying that but I honestly believe it. I just don't think floyd would have handled a night of Hatton fans in his back yard with an unbeaten hatton in his face all night. Floyd just never ever had that pressure even now to this day.

Hatton is so under rated it ****ing boils my blood, he was a great fighter that will be remembered by knob heads as the bloke that was knocked out by manny. He was floyds toughest fight to date by far.

Anyway I'm going to bed to either dream about Kelly brooks tits or hattons body shot over Castillo, either way the sheets need changing!!!

Just re-watched it, probably for the 1st time since I seen it. Cortez was an absolute disgrace.

  7. My biggest gripe with cortez was that he then allows Hopkins to get away with all his bag of tricks in the calzaghe fight.

He also saved Khan against maidana.

It's obvious he intersects himself into fights and helps certain fighters

For ****s sake what world are you guys living in? Yes Hatton pressured him, but how many punches did he actually land the whole fight?

His toughest fight to date my arse.

There is a huge difference between making someone work and giving them a tough fight. Mayweather always takes a few rounds to adjust. Hatton was tough and relentless, but Floyd was tooling him on the inside by the mid point, and hammering him on the outside. From the 6th on he absolutely ruined Hatton, and did something you rarely see him doing: fluid combo punching.

he knew he was in complete command, and made Hatton a showcase. He punished him for ever saying he was dull (although he often is).

Mayweather's hardest fights were against Castillo, Oscar and Cotto.

Superb thread. Hatton fight was Mayweathers best win in my eyes, and yes Hatton does get no where near enough praise for his performance. Warrior, fight of his life, my highlight in boxing of any era for all the right reasons. Both fighters to this day are my idols in the sport because of that fight.

I said it before and i got alot of abuse, but ill say it again and will get abuse again but i don't care.. the Hatton that got into the ring against Mayweather beats Pacquiao all day long.

It was a massive win for Mayweather.
