Stevenson is irrelevant. Nobody really talks about the guy anymore or gives two shits what he does. For a good while it has been all about Ward, Kovalev, Bivol, Beterbiev, Gvozdyk and so on. Stevenson will soon retire and be pretty much forgotten.

EA made a living off all the step aside money he was earning. Must suck to have that stream of income depleted

Why did Ward refuse a fight at 168 in Oakland vs Stevenson (the only demand from Stevenson was to rematch in Canada) ?

    Ward ducked Stevenson

Judging from social media, they’re even tiring of him not fighting anyone lol

The Alvarez-Stevenson debacle was all a setup by their shared promoter Yvon Michel to prevent dangerous guys becoming mandatory to Stevenson. By making endless step-aside deals, Stevenson could fight whomever he wanted.

Eventually (several months ago), the WBS got sick of it, adjudged Alvarez to have lost his position due to too many step-asides, and ordered Gvozdyk vs Alvarez for the mandatory position.

Rather than get KO'ed by the younger and comparatively unknown Gvozdyk, Alvarez is preferring to take on the older Kovalev hoping he's past it.

Ward ducked a whole load of killers who he wanted no part of.

He wanted nothing to do with Bute when he was unbeaten. No part of GGG and no part of Stevenson

Used Wladimir's, GGG and Joshua's name to boost his own profile.

well, with Alvarez taking on Kovalev, this pretty much eliminates Stevenson's safety cushion in Alvarez. Alvarez ain't going the distance with the Krusher imo.

This. Alvarez would've got knocked out anyway, so it worked out for the best. He made Adonis pay him for years without ever having to fight him.

WBC does not require Stevenson to defend his title, why is that?

Ward was tied up in the super six when Bute hit his peak... a bute that was only undefeated for 5 months after the tournament ended.

So because Ward didnt sign to fight him in the 5 month window between the end of the tournament and when he was destroyed by a guy Ward already beat, that constitutes as Ward wanting nothing to do with an undefeated Bute?

The guy took on Kessler, AA, Froch and Kovalev but wanted nothing to do with Bute or G? You really think that makes sense? Not saying this with a disrespectful tone, truly curious why an objective fan whose not attempting to spin an anti ward agenda would truly believe ward 'wanted no part' of a bute fight when he fought far more dangerous and dynamic fighters and the guy was only undefeated for 5 months of wards post tournament career.

This was a long time ago so forgive me for any errors on my behalf.

From what I remember Bute begged to fight Ward. Let's not forget he was considered the next big thing, the hype for Bute was immeasurable.

Ward then made some excuses that he needed a break.... suprise suprise

Then he proposed that Bute needed some big names on his resume before he would even consider stepping in the same ring with him. Sound familar? At which point Bute went to the uk and got himself battered by a reborn Froch.

Granted this wasn't the same Froch that lost to Ward - it was a hungrier, stronger, faster and more ferocious Carl Froch who would give his opponents no quarter.

Regardless of who Ward later would go on to fight, the fact remains he made a ton of excuses as to why he wanted no part of Bute, a awkward southpaw who was unbeaten bringing with him a menacing reputation consisting of filthy devastating knockout highlight reels, which no doubt had given Ward second thoughts

As for ducking GGG, this is without question. He was asked directly if he was interested in fighting him at the weight in which he initially proposed after his 5 year hiatus and responded with a resounding no, before deciding to retire.
