I might not agree on all the details, but the general thrust of the argument is why I consider Patterson a great fighter, but not one of the great heavyweight champions.

I agree with you on Patterson v Moore. I actually think Moore was lucky that Patterson beat him at heavyweight, and not light-heavyweight.

 

It would have been interesting to see Floyd against a Prime Archie Moore, in better condition. Floyd looked unbelievable vs Moore, but Archie was not at his best physically or mentally for that fight.

Thanks to Janitor for bringing it to everyone's notice. I really like Patterson. A great champion, a true gentleman and a huge human being.

 

Could be similar to a guy like Gamboa within the past year or so. Maybe he just showed excellent ability? I've watched Floyd in his younger days and he was one of the most explosive fighters at the weight I've ever seen.

 

So Patterson at 175lb can't beat an old Joey Maxim but he is going to beat a prime archie moore?

Moore doesn´t fight like Maxim and the outcome of that fight is debatable, not that I disagree with you here, just things to think about.

 

I am just saying...I do not think a 19 year old floyd would beat a prime in shape 1952 Archie Moore. Archie would knockout the teenager.

 

The ability to disguise himself??
