Man there wasn't anything off about Ruslan the truth is he's not that good who considered the winner of Alvarado-Provodnikov for an Intriem Belt a real Champ. The guy got outboxed for the majority of the fight point blank, at some point you have to learn to stop overrating these power punchers the GGG's, Thurman's and such just because there entertaining and wait intil they actually do something.

    The problem was Provo's ears.

    He got them boxed off.

I'm not saying they might not be the real deal GGG-Geale are taking the first steps towards showing who the best MW is every top MW is unproven and they have to fight each other to show who's the best one win don't cut. Thurman is rumoured to be fighting Maidana in Sept that's would be Thurman's first real step up fight and after Maidana's last fight and Thurman showing a shakey chin at times it's no given he wins.

My point is this at some point these guys will have to step up only then will you know the true value of these fighters, acting like they have already stepped up already gets you what happened last night fighters believing their own hype and catching bad L's

You might want to look at his opponent for a change.

Real Champions/winners are motivated for every fight.

He got beaten by the better Man, accept it.

That's the key. This match should have never been made. Very hard to understand when there were so many great potential fights ahead for Provo.

The fight with Karim Mayfield was set but didn't happen because Mayfield unexpectedly lost to Dulorme.

Either way, Roach screwed up big time. Why take it? What is the upside? It is known Provo much prefers fighters that come to fight.

Hindsight is 20/20 but for the sake Rios's brain and his future, it was best that the fight with Provo didn't happen.

They picked a guy with little power and thought the whole fight would be like the first round. They didn't consider for a second that his slick style and height is a nightmare for guys like prov. I think ruslans style and image is very appealing to most fans so I don't think this hurts him long term. However, they really do need to be more careful of who he fights.

Yeah. It was a bad matchup for him. I'm not sure why his team did that. I guess they underestimated Chris and had no other opponent willing to fight.

Provo has to plant his feet too long to throw. He needs to work on more mobile punching and incorporating a jab when needed. Chris did a great job of constantly changing angles and disrupting Provo with constant punching, even if they weren't hard shots.

Provo also abandoned the body work that gave him success early and started head hunting. I told my wife in like the 4th or 5th round that Provo stopped his body work and he's going to lose if he doesn't reinstate it. It allowed Chris a breather to find his rhythm and he did just that. Freddy finally called for more body work in like the 10th round (at least that's the first time they caught it on the broadcast), but it was far too late at that point and Provo didn't really follow that instruction anyway.

When thinking more about the fight, it is surprising Provo didn't "contain" Algieri on the ropes more often. I believe he could have done this. He should have continued to go to the body, in the same spot, Algieri's lower left side. He was effective when he did. The problem was he didn't do it often enough.

When you talk about being mentally off, I think fighters get tired of the punishment. Provo has a nice job lined up locally. Maybe he is thinking about this. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets out soon.
