They were seperated and Hatton got some good time to recover, the referee also took Hatton to the corner to get his shoe laces tied. When a fighter is hurt and another is having a major advantage you simply DON'T stop the fight for nothing.

I think the 15 month layoff didnt do Juan any good, but when he had Hatton hurt and hanging on, out of nowhere, the referee stops it for the damned shoelace. And by the way, a third grader could tie a shoelace faster than Hatton's corner did. I was and am a huge fan of British fighters like Ken Buchanan, Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe, but the British can make me sick with their crap like "enjoy Ricky now while he's still around", like he's some immortal great or something. He's probably a great guy, and is a very tough. scrappy fighter, but the British overdo ANYTHING that comes from Britain. Their lack of sportsmanship, booing the American anthem, the way ALL these foriegners HATE Americans, not just the British, is souring me on "the World Community". I was just hoping from the opening bell that Laczano would hand him his ass, outbox him, or cut him up and spring the big upset, going into the guy's back yard, with that nutty, soon to be Islamic island making sure that with good ol' hometown officiating, that nothing would happen to their "great Ricky Hatton".

there was loads of times in that fight when i seen hatton hurt lazcano and i thought if he lands one or to more he has got lazcano out of here but then he holds, so if it was a fix (which it wernt) then it would be that hatton had money on him going the distance
