    Kia Ora,

I know Gary and his brother Dave so I thought i'd add my 2 cents....
That interview with Gary was just him taking the **** & hyping it up, don't take it so seriously - the media talking him up as Kimbo-like street fighter on the back streets of Auckland lol. Hes just a ****-head who likes a fight, a casual boxer at best who's has a few amatuer fights. He'll be giving away a huge reach advantage but dont be so quick to right him off.

All the pressure is on Sonny to deliver and he seems nervous - Gary is relaxed and just loving the chance to fight Sonny, if he looses he won't care, if he wins hes a legend. Obviously hes been chosen because he ticks all the boxes (age/height/experience) but Sonny may have bitten off more than he can chew here.

How many fights has Sonny had? Oh thats right, none. So don't just assume he can fight and that he can take a punch.

All you Aussies are so quick to write off the Kiwi underdog, don't you remember the leauge world cup? haha jokes - sorry if I struck a nerve there.

You herd it here first: GURRRRRRRRRR via The BIG KABOSH!!

    Sheep jokes in '09?

Anyway as a fellow Mozzie myself Kabosh, you don't really think Gurr's street fighting skills can compare to Sonny's pro athlete conditioning in a boxing ring, do ya? The silliest thing Sonny could do is probably go toe-to-toe with him, he's gotta keep on his feet and let Gurr gas himself.

Gotta love all this hype. SBW looks good. Gary has a big heart and loves to fight. He stopped working and trains 3 times a day. Channel nine asked him to mouth off. Guess its to create interest and sell tickets. Could you please post where on the nett I can find someone willing to take $9-00 on Gary. I am sure if Gary can clobber three bouncers, whose job is to fight if nessassary, then one SBW should be no problem. Hope you all go see this fight or please bet big on SBW so Garys odds get better.

Agree with you in theory - would've added something to an otherwise absolutely shitefull support card.

Hall wouldn't have been available due to AFL contractual issues. But if he was would have put SBW to sleep in quick time. Hall has a very good grounding and extensive junior experience. SBW??

shanemfr - Sorry I know that wound hasn't healed yet but I've appologized already, good comeback tho...

The reason I joined this thread was just to give a bit of background on Gurr. I don't care about hyping it up, SBW is fighting, its already hyped.
I'm not trying to build up Gurr - I just wanted contribute to this thread and point out that he has had a few amateur fights, where as Sonny has not.

Of course Sonny should win - he's super fit and they've hand picked an opponet for him.
All im saying is its not a foregone conclusion so don't give Sonny player of the day just yet.

the mail is sonny has shown a bit of talent so far..... not surprising as most gifted athletes have great eye/hand and feet co-ordination, stammina and varying degrees of focus.... weather he has a chin to go with it remains to be seen.
