I never doubted he'd be selected for the ABs - he wouldn't have gone to Union if it wasn't on the cards.

He's a great player, but I also think his selection has a bit to do with his 'celebrity factor' as well as his abilities, much like Rogers, Tuqiri, Sailor and Tahu were selected for Australia.

 

No. You need to jump onto youtube and watch the highlights of ITM cup matches. SBW is killing it. The number of line breaks he creates is ridiculous. They just cant stop him one on one. In one game he made the final pass for 3 tries and his an outside centre.

I am impressed by his vision and passing game as well. He learnt a few things in France.

 

skill was never SBW problem. its his physical durability. he gets injured too much.......waaaayyy too much.

 

The guy's certainly a brilliant athlete, even allowing for the fact that he turned his back on a long-term contract that the ink had barely dried on.

I have been watching basically nearly all the ITM Cup matches on FOX guys, & thoroughly enjoying it.
SBW has been awesome for Canterbury & was instrumental in their win over my team Southland last week to gain top spot on the ladder.
It is IMO by far the best provincial Union tournament in the world bar none.
SBW earned his call up the hard way dominating week after week at provincial level.

 

big call but what position will he play? Be a tough call breaking up conrad and nonu. I'd prefer we play against him in the centres.

He should be a breakaway, but he'd fall apart after 3 games.

 

No doubt its a tough call...they may use him as an impact player off the bench for his 1st couple NZ caps to see how he gels with players/positions/tactics etc.
I personally wouldnt rush him into their starting lineup...NZ always have such vast riches at Union lucky buggers.
