One of the heaviest handed heavyweights there was.

One of my favorite fighters of all time! The most underrated heavyweight champion imo (either him or Patterson). A H2H monster for sure!

H2H monster whose resume is often overstated. Clear top 15 HW ever anyway though and incredibly tough to beat.

Sonny looked so strong in the trunk. His chest and abdomen looked huge. His legs could look a little spindly in comparison but that upper body, long arms and then enormous mitts must have generated some force. He had the kind of upper body that would have generated force from an arm punch but Sonny's punches also had good form and, always, bad intent.

Sonny was older then people know and would have ruled the 60’s if not for olde Cassius Clay

He’s in my top five HWs. I know his title reign stunk but the run up before was nothing short of incredible. Absolute destruction of top notch fighters is almost unmatched but a few at Hw

One of my favorites. If anyone is interested in learning more about Sonny, I encourage you to pick up the great book Night Train. I have a photo of the cover in my Avatar. Excellent read about one of the most fascinating heavyweight champs ever.

An absolute monster. Underrated boxing skills. Easily top 10. I do feel he was closer to 40 than 30 when he fought Ali though

The way he breaks down and clubs opponents into the canvas is a work of art. When he had a guy hurt and in the corner or against the ropes, it looked like a controlled demolition. The blank facial expressions and detached, murderous aura will likely never be replicated. You can't get bored watching Liston. A fascinating figure in and out the ring. He was Jack the Ripper with boxing gloves--no one knew who he was, when he was born or even how he died. We know more about his victims and the brutality he inflicted upon them.
