Wasn't Liston nominated for an Oscar for Moonfire?

I wonder where his acting career would have gone?

    Monday Night - October 14, 1968

Veteran's Memorial Coliseium - Phoenix, Arizona

    Attendance; 5200

Promoter, Al Zenn signed Sonny Liston to a standard of 40% of the 'live gate' against
    a $15,000 minimum.

Al Zenn was hoping to match Sonny Liston with Arizona Heavyweight - Zora Folley,
in a rematch of the 'two aging' Heavyweights. But Zora, who originally agreed to the bout
pulled out 8-days before the bout, claiming an injury.

The 'replacement' opponent - 'South Dallas Policeman' Sonny Moore with a record of 20-28-2.
The 30 year-old - Sonny Moore, was a 'perenial loser' and a 'safe opponent', going 1-9-0 in
his last '10-bouts' and 4-13-0 in his last '17-bouts'.

Liston, at 221 lbs. and 43-3-0 (33 KO's), was still ranked as the #4 Heavyweight,
and needed a victory to keep his 'title hopes alive.

Round 1 was fought on 'even terms', as the 30 year-old 195 lb. Sonny Moore stood
toe-to-toe with the former Champion, to the delight of the Veteran Memorial Auditorium fans.

In Round 2, Sonny went after Moore, and at the 0:30 Mark dropped his opponent
with a right hand to the temple. Up at the '8-Count', Moore tried to fight back,
but was met by a barrage of overhand rights and left hooks from the former Champion.

Liston then landed a 'crushing' left hook to the temple, flooring Moore again for an '8-Count'.

In Round 3, Liston wasted little time going after his stunned opponent, and nailed Moore with
a 'slinging overhand right' that buckled his legs. Liston then attacked with a barrage of
right and left hooks, finally dropping Sonny Moore for the 'full-count' with a left hook to the body.

    Sonny Liston received $15,000.

3-weeks later, Sonny was fighting in a Bull-Ring in Mexico.
