This is a great video. it's too bad you dont have liston taking punches off of big punchers Nino Valdes and Mike DeJohn. Pity the film isn't easy to find. you could add that into ur video and make It look even better! Thanx so much

We have a video like this on Lewis though, and it does not get everyone proving he has an "iron" chin.

Anyway, I think Tyson's chin is very under rated, even though it is highly rated.

Very brave video. You'll actually impact people's thoughts with this video.

I don't see it as conclusive proof myself, and I would have liked to have seen some punches multiple times and perhaps slowed down? But it's an opinion clip and fair play to you.

    Good, yes. Great, no.

As for the logic "look, Williams didn't knock him down, so Ali's knockdown can't have been legit": boxing just doesn't work like that. It's not basic arithmetic. How about this: Ali took three flush left hooks from Liston, a huge puncher. Therefore, there's no way he can suffer a knockdown from Henry Cooper or Doug Jones. The great Joe Louis took Max Baer's best shots without buckling, so there's no way a former lightheavy, Braddock, floors him, right?

If you ask me the knockdown was as legit as it gets. An instant reaction, there's no way he could've used that tiny amount of time to think for himself "hey, I got hit, time to pretend my legs are gone now". We're talking about 20 or so milliseconds. Everyone is used to seeing that ultra slow-motion version, but watch it in real time and see how incredible fast it goes, 4:03:

By the way, that hook from Patterson (0:54 in your video) doesn't seem to connect to me. Looks like Liston blocked it, or at least partially.

    Brave?
I'm just sick of these bad chin claims.

This, I disagree with. These guys work with milliseconds after all. It's possible for them to do many other things in milliseconds, so why not buckle?

However, I don't think the idea that Sonny was flashed by Ali is flat out wrong, not at all - it could well be right when you put it like that. Tiger was flashed by Griffith, Monzon by Valdes, etc etc., and the surprising punches are the ones that can take it away from you momentarily, and Liston does look like he is in a stumble after the shot lands.

Yeah, highlights videos tend to be a homage, this one actually takes part in a debate.

thing is though sometimes they dont look like big punchs because theyre not telegraphed but its those punches you dont see and you cant dodge that hurt like a biaaaatch. I beleive it is a legit KD weather he was hurt that badly debatable.

Liston had a great chin but 1 punch can change anything in boxing:bbb

Wrong. Mike DeJohn was a big Puncher. Around 6'4 207lb, with a dynamite left hook.

Also Nino Valdes, a very big puncher. 6'3 211lb, could knock you dead with his right hand.

I'd say Liston had a B, B+ level chin. Good, not an all time great beard however.

Marty Marshall floored him, I think, so I say no.

Kevin Issacs Floored Larry Holmes. I say No to holmes having a good chin.

Michael Bruce floored Joe Frazier. I say no to Frazier having a good chin.

    See how this nonsense works?

Marshall floored liston for a FlASH kd. In fact the only part that touched the canvas was Liston's glove. Seems like more of an off balance knockdown than a punch that put him on ***** st. Liston took murderous bombs off Williams, Valdes, and DeJohn without blinking.
