Spelling and Grammer (sp?) being discussed on a boxing thread.

    Who would’ve thunk it?

    Correct.

While I agree, with everything you say, I just don't like engaging with said group. Boxingfan is Serbianloudmouth, an alt that's already been banned three times. He's by far the worst poster here. Not much better is that Kamikaze/JM guy who disparages guys like Ali, Liston, and Foreman at every possible turn (and in fact will bring them up in threads that have nothing to do with them). I only engaged Bfan because he replied to me with a snooty remark. Otherwise I try to avoid them at all costs and suggest you do the same. Simply not worth the time, and effort.

And yes, I agree with your take on how the lineament got in his eyes. Pretty sure someone here (maybe you?) provided footage of the precise moment it likely happened.

The referee even checked Liston's gloves and found nothing of substance (pun intended).

Regarding Liston's speed, I agree Liston was not slow in his prime. In his earlier fights against Bethea, I'd even call him fast. I think he slowed down a bit as he developed but still he was nowhere near slow against the likes of Machen and Williams. I'd even put his handspeed above average by then.

Obviously he'd slowed down quite a bit by the time he faced Ali, and had slowed considerably by the end of his career.

We’re on the exact same age.

As to dealing with them, I say people deal with them however they like.

The irony is that sometimes their steadfast refusal to accept facts or their literally not being privy to the relevant facts opens the window for providing information that everyone can benefit from.

In replying to your good self I didn’t encounter the boneheaded stonewalling that the “others” are disposed to.

We have both Dundee and Ali acknowledging the accidental nature of the eye contamination - something BF, due to his woefully limited knowledge, tried to deny.

I see in another thread BF contrarily put all his stock in Dick Saddlers alleged take that Foreman hit harder than Sonny (of course, lol) - BUT BF wasn’t willing to accept another trainers (Dundee’s take) on the eye contamination and he was also wrong stating that Ali didn’t accept it was accidental.

Yes, Liston wasn’t the proverbial flash but he didn’t have to be in order to be rightfully deemed as NOT slow.

Bethea is a good example of Sonny’s prime hand speed and so too are the Williams’ fights also, imo.

I agree with Swag. You’re fine.

One can make clear their favourite fighter(s) and still post even handedly.

One can also make obvious tongue in cheek comments to playfully bolster their faves.

For example, I like Ingo in a casual way but I sometimes joke about and exaggerate his chances or even his superiority over clearly better fighters.

Swag has submitted similar opinions re Cleveland Williams BUT, of course, if it came down to just Ingo vs Williams, H2H, that’s no joking matter and Swag understands that most if not all here would have to objectively favour the super cool Swede.

Among others, Ingo allegedly dropped the Hammer on Cleopatra/Liz Taylor.

If not in respect of the sport of boxing, an argument could be made for Ingo being the GOAT in another realm of conquest where no one gets hurt - assuming Ingo wasn’t into S & M - but then again, he was Swedish, after all. :D

Now I'm imagining Turki Alalshikh wetting himself laughing as a Bob Arum, transported from the early 70's by the wonder of time travel, holds him at gunpoint and demands a "ONE MILLLLLIIIIIOOONNN DOLLAR!" purse for a fight involving his new HW superstar.
