Can't you admit that Sonny had to fight Ali under circumstances that no modern fighter would
tolerate ?

 

Good and great are not the same things and Sonny is not the great, not in top 10 maybe in 15 for sure.

 

Modern fighters are businessman not real fighters, old time fighters would fight under all circumstances.

 

Hang on,what are you talking about.Of course Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore were great fighters
but as heavyweights they would only be on a par with the likes of Zora Folley and Eddie Machen.

Agreed.Sonny Liston was more of a fighter than these modern guys.

 

They are better as HWs than those two and are two greatest LHWs while Zora Folley and Machen were never close to being champs.

 

He was not because he quits and cheated unlike modern fighters that only cheats at weights.

 

Muhammad would not, he said his top 3 HWs of all time and Sonny was not in his top 5 , that was even before Holmes and the rest.

 

Incorrect . Zora Folley and Eddie Machen are regarded as two of the finest contenders
never to win the heavyweight title.They were very unlucky to fighting at the same time
as two of the greatest heavyweight-champions in history-Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali.
They were certainly better heavyweights than Archie Moore.

 

I'm not saying Muhammad Ali rated Sonny Liston in his all time top 3 heavyweight-champions
of all time,but he was adamant that Sonny was one of the greatest heavyweights in history.

 

Nope they were contenders at best and not the best ones.
50 years old Archie did better against Ali than Zora Folley who was in his 30s.
Also they were not better than Archie who beat Satterfield and Valdes.
