    'Sonny Liston Jailed'

Sonny Liston was arrested on Friday, December 25th, Christmas Day.

On Christmas Day, 'two' Denver Patrolmen noted a man staggering though a parking lot, when
he almost fell over while trying to getting into his new '1965' dark green Cadillac.

Moments later, Mr. Liston drove off in his car, while driving erratically in East Denver. The 'two'
Denver Patrolmen soon followed, and flagged down the vehicle.

At first, the officers did not recognize the driver. But after Sonny got out of his car, the officers
realized it was the former Heavyweight Champion.

A shoving match ensued, as the two officer's tried to put Sonny in the back of the squad car. An
additional back-up of police officer's was requested, and soon '10' officers were at the scene.

Sonny did reluctantly get into a police vehicle, but admitted to consuming only 'one beer'. Later at
'Police Headquarters', Sonny did admit to having '6 to 8' beers, and some other 'tasty' liquor (J & B Scotch).

'Clay Defends Liston In Denver Tiff'

Heavyweight Champion - Cassius Clay defended the former Chamion in his most recent tiff with
Denver Police. The Champion said that Liston should have never spent Christmas Day in a Denver Jail.

It was a pitiful situation that was blown out of proportion, stated Clay.

Liston who was wrestled into a coil by '10' Denver Policemen, and forced into a police wagon, was later
booked on 'Suspicion of Drunken Driving'.

Clay, who has pity for Liston, said that the former Champion was his friend and that they were
supposed to make alot of money together in their re-scheduled Heavyweight Championship Bout in 1965.
