It's easy to have no quit when your short prime is spent fighting nothing but shopworn pugs at the very end of their careers or on the quick downslide, blownup light heavies (often one and the same as the previous) and white hype jobs.

Oh Scrap Johnson and Leotis Martin are so much better than those hype jobs.
Rocky never quit and never would quit or cheat unlike Liston who quit against Ali.

All good, no apology required at all boss - confusing with the multiple quotes provided and repetition of same. Just wanted to clarify which one I meant.

Excellent investigative work re Sander’s Wiki page and those claims.

You gotta love family but they’re also not the most objective sources, lol.

Hes a little on the special needs side.... Did you notice he claimed Baer was beating Louis when Louis had him against the ropes and Baer was wildly swinging and missing?

Did you even watch the fight?
I do not think so and you claimed I am funny but I ever posted exact second of that moment but yeah, you are so smart.
I posted everything and only thing you know then is making fun of someone when you lack arguments which is even more funny than that.

Your "arguments" are either pure speculation or things you straight-up made up. Louis won every round against Baer, has Baer's right hand not been injured, the fight would have been more competitive, but the fight was very one-sided in favor of Louis. Marciano had very troublesome bouts against lesser fighters than Baer, (LaStarza, old Walcott, Ancient LH Moore) if we are comparing.

It was one sided I agree but Baer almost had him two times on the ropes.
If Baer was hard worker ,teaching art of boxing and not injured he would beat Louis in my opinion.
But he did not lose unlike Baer who lost against 2 LHW and one old fighter.

    Baer didn’t almost have Louis.

He caught Louis maybe once or twice - landing punches isn’t “almost” having someone out.

Louis took the punches fine and then coolly returned greater and more serious fire and Max was covering up for dear life in seconds.

An injured hand is just an excuse, Baer was trying the right hand out at well enough. Did Max ever seek a rematch with Joe when his hands were good?

It would be difficult to find a fighter more thoroughly beaten than Max was against Louis. Absolutely dominated in ALL departments.

Max knew this better than anyone.

Great quote Mike. Loveable Max, keeping it real. If he isn’t necessarily up there with the truly elite ATGs, he is very much in the running as a # 1 ATG in terms of his character and personality.

Prior to the Canera fight a group of reporters descended on Bears training camp situated on a site near the beach, up to the main lodge they went expecting to see him sparring, hitting the heavy bag etc, they approached one of Bears handlers " where's Maxie " the first fella enquired, " down on the beach " came the reply, ah they surmised, he must be running, off to the beach they went on arrival they were taken aback somewhat when there was no sign of Bear running, all that was on the beach was a small wind breaker ? oh well, we are here now lets go look, to their utmost dismay , and eternal disbelief there was Maxie with two absolute stunners, in the briefest of bikinis, " what in damnation is going on Max " shouted one of the ensemble, " working out for the fight guys, shot back Max " what ! on the beach making sand castles another chimed in, " building up ma wrists " replied Bear whilst patting the top of the plastic bucket. it happened.
    stay safe guys.

Hahaha. Great stuff. With Max, you have no doubt that it is likely 100% true - certainly he did a gag reel with his brother Buddy, in their bathers on a beach, “working out those wrists” with buckets of sand and tiny shovels. One of a kind. Max made Buddy seem introverted. Lol.

So we are going to compare Rocky to Baer for some reason? If we are to go down the road of basing a verdict on who a fighter's opponents lost to, let's investigate Rocky's.

Joe Walcott had 49 wins and 20 losses, many to journeymen when he wasn't over the hill. That's a 40% loss ratio. One of Rocky's hardest opponents was against an old man with a 40% loss ratio.

Ted Lowrey who many argue should have gotten the decision against Rocky in what was objectively a hard close fight, had 70 wins and 68 losses. So a fighter with a 50% loss ratio gave Rocky his toughest, closest fight.

Charles lost to a bunch of journeymen after his Marciano bout (according to you, Liston's single loss to a journeyman in his mid 40's ruins his rep, so what about a younger fighter losing to a bunch of them?). Again, one of Rocky's hardest fights.

Don't forget an almost-retired Savold with a 42% loss rate.

Interesting what happens when we start to look at these guys records.....
