Suppposedly true, but that was more because Liston would just fight a policeman if he was alone, rather than allow himself to be arrested. One one occasion he disarmed an officer and placed him upside down in a trash can, apparently because the officer threatened him with the fire arm.
:rofl I think so, too. Insulting a man's mother, however indirectly, does not sit well with pretty much anyone. And imagine Sonny Liston thinking you had accused him of calling his mother a liar. I've also heard that he used to get harassed in Philly and once got a ticket for driving too slow in a park. It was after this that he moved to Denver. I think he said something like "I would rather be a lamppost in Denver than the mayor of Philadelphia." Nail on the head, right here. So much of his life is undocumented, unknown, or embellished.
