Most hit men just sort of killed the guy and left quickly. If you kliled someone, it was to send a message.

Seems like holding Liston down and shooting him up (when he was supposedly deathly afraid of needles) and "hoping" he overdosed isn't exactly a sure-fire way to kill someone.

A bullet would be much easier.

I think Liston probably just overdosed because he hadn't done it much before.

It's not like there were huge bets being placed on Liston-Wepner. It was a pretty nondescript fight when it happened.
