If you think the first fight was fixed then watch the fight again wearing glasses this time! ali's free fast moving style was kryptonite for liston. he could never beat ali and stayed down in the rematch cuz he realized it. the only SECRET here is that liston QUIT in both fights.

Every fighter quits when he takes a dive.

As far as the second fight goes, Louis, Tunney, George Chuvalo and Floyd Patterson were at ringside and all said it was a fix.
Dempsey watched the film and said the same thing.
Gene Tunney was very vocal about it. He launched a campaign to have the purses withheld.

    A simple fact,

Sonny Liston and I-C-P would make 'a tremendous amount' of more money for the
rematch with Cassius Clay, than if Sonny won, and fought Eddie Machen in
    (proposed date of August 1964).

The Sonny Liston vs. Eddie Machen bout (if Sonny defeated Cassius Clay) was a
    'dog with fleas'.

Read some information about Jack Nilon (Sonny Liston's manager), discussing money
issues in mid-1963. They needed 'big money' and fast.

The only 'big money fight' out there, was with 'INGO'. And 'INGO' didn't want it because
    of the tax implications.
