Yeah, I wonder ??? I also wonder why Ali thought he hadn't hit him hard enough too????

These were terrific slugfests, often dismissed by some who like to cheapen the skill or power of Williams .. Liston showed his stones in both bouts as far as heart and chin big time .. I always thought Foreman - Lyle was extremely dramatic and entertaining but oddly enough the victor, Foreman, looked slow and wild while Lyle was faster and sharper but simply outlasted and over powered .. However, if you want to see just how nasty George could be at his best there is no better example than the second Frazier fight .. he was patient, dealt w a change in style without freaking out, jabbed, worked the body extremely well and threw some of the most brutal shots Ive ever seen ..

Styles .. no one was hitting a prime Ali, especially a shot (literally) Williams ..

classic fights, both fighters at their best. Two sluggers both standing there ground something had to give. Liston stayed in the pocket weathering the storm a bit in the first round where Williams came out very aggressive and unleashed a barrage of punches that I think very few heavyweights would've been able to withstand. Liston stood his ground and in the 2nd and 3rd round went to work with excellent combinations to the body and head he used his great jab to bust up Williams and set up his power punches. This was really Liston at his best he was really a master boxer, Williams at this time in his career would've been a problem for practically anyone he faced especially fighters who stood there ground with him.

Hey dude, thanks for answering, but I think due to my ( already corrected ) grammatical error induce you to think that I was talking about williams . But I was talking about Liston.

    got em both on VHS.
The 'Big Cat' came out winging in the 1st, blooded Sonny's nose, but, the Bear was going nowhere. What a great 1st round!
For all the classic fans out there, we know Clev was a tad soft under the left tit and by the end of the second, the writing started appearing on the wall. Look at that Sonny left hook that sent Williams down! Case closed in the third.
The second? I think Williams knew he was toast except for his puncher's chance which never happened...
