Sonny Liston vs Earnie Shavers, prime for prime. Imagine The Big Ugly Bear tangling with the Acorn Head.

It's possible Earnie rocks the hell out of him...but Liston was just too good. It might last 3 rounds.

The only thing Shavers could do in the fight is landing something early that will break Liston's nose, before he gets brutally spanked in the 2nd round.
But this could happen only if Liston (before the fight) cut off one arm, and then agreed to have the other one handcuffed.

where is he going to cuff it to, if the other arm is missing?

Do a Cleveland Big Cat Williams to Liston.

Yes. But since he wasn't as good as Williams style wise, that's how i see it.

IMHO, Sonny is just in another class. I'm not saying that Ernie couldn't rock him. When Ernie landed flush, he could rock anybody! I'm saying, in 10 tries, Liston wins at least 7 times, maybe more.

Nailed it! Williams was light years ahead of Shavers as a fighter in just about every department likely excluding power. As a matter of fact, post gunshot Williams, beat someone who beat Stallings who beat a prime Shavers!

Well said. But i'm not so sure about the "power" department. Williams might have been a harder puncher who knows..the poor guy couldn't land anything on Ali during their meeting inside the ring, but it would have been truly interesting to hear what Muhammad has to say had the big cat caught him with his atomic bomb left hook atleast once.
Even if ali somehow still picks Shavers as the biggest puncher he ever stepped in the ring with, i strongly believe he will add something like " Cleveland's power is not that far behind."

I mean most of his opponent whi fought him in his prime believed he might have been a harder puncher than Liston. (Like you told me like 5 months ago.)
Jack o'halloran, who has been knocked out by George Foreman, Ron Lyle and Mac Foster said that none of them hit him harder than Cleveland Williams!!!
If there is anybody who deserve to be put infront of Shavers in terms of power, it should be Williams!

Sonny crushes him. I see an early stoppage win for the big ugly bear.
