It would have to be a quick KO. Shavers had stamina problems...and he never had a KO past the 7th round. He didn't carry his power into the later rounds. He didn't have the knack of coming up with the big punch when he had too!

It'd happen with the first punch he lands. If he doesn't land it he loses. If he lands it Sonny's lights go out.

There’s always the chance Earnie wipes him out in a round- scary how history can be changed by chance and power so easily.

If Earnie got lucky more often then not where would be the proof he wasn’t good?
    (Hope that makes sense)

I don’t think personally Shavers had stamina issues he want very big for a HW and he had some old school trainers. I think he just threw too much of himself into every single shot and tried punching through everything too often.

You've been corrected on this multiple times in the past and still continue to sprout it.

Either you are stupid or a liar or both. Credibility zero.

I never knew Shavers sparred with Liston either. That’s interesting. Like you say, Sonny was probably in the twilight of his career but even his later bouts reflect that he could still fight even if he was a shadow of his former self.

    It gets tiring

He's been hammered by multiple posters before on this. He's lucky the likes of mcvey are no longer here! Fair to say he didn't have much time for such antics either

Yeah his dislike of Liston and tendency to restate repeatedly disproven arguments are all to chok-like for me which is why I attempt to steer clear of him.

It is true that Earnie Shavers had immense power in his right hand. Maybe that is why Jerry Quarry jumped all over him in their Dec 14 1973 bout at Madison Square Garden, Jerry laid him out in round 1.

    Liston by brutal knockout.

Shavers has a chance of catching him and he can hit, but let’s be honest he was sparked out by fighters nowhere near Listons class.

It’s forgotten due to the passage of time, but 1955-1963 maybe a bit longer Liston was an absolute wrecking ball. Intimidating, strong, brutal, powerful, durable he could take a punch in his prime, although not technically sublime the solid attributes he did have were extremely effective.

If Quarry, and Lyle amongst others were stopping Ernie, it’s frightening what a prime Liston would do.

As much as I respect Shavers, it’s not even close.

Liston would be an absolute nightmare for most in his prime.

Liston vs Louis, now that would be interesting.

Sonny wins this fight big. And he wins very early.
