Tunney doesn`t have the height, reach and range that Ali had. Liston is gonna be able to land his jab a lot more on a Gene Tunney than he was able to against a lightening quick Muhammad Ali. Even if Tunney`s movement bothers Liston he will eventually wilt from that big jab popping in his face each round. Then the power comes behind it. Sonny was a pretty damn good boxer himself and he set up his power smartly. Liston by stoppage mid to late.
I like this response. Tunney makes it interesting but he'd be facing someone with a better jab than his own, one with a bit of English on it. Liston at his best is one of the best. Intriguing match indeed. Don't think I've seen them matched on this board before.
