Excellent fight that could go either way assuming both guys are training hard, sober and prime.

Despite Gerry having a better and harder left hook, Liston wins by mid-fight stoppage, having Gerry down twice which saps his will to carry on.

    Liston, KO inside 2 rounds.

But Foreman labeled Williams, Lyle & Conney as hitting him hardest, so how could Liston even be 3rd? he said it on Letterman. he may have contradicted himself, can you cooy the source of the quote?

Gerrys chin was soft. First solid blow to that chin ends the bout. I don't see it going any more than 3 rounds.

To be fair, I think Foreman has been wildly inconsistent on who hit him the hardest. It's different every time you ask.

It's not really a fair question anyway tho.

Liston, right after the stare down. ****ey was a nervous type and could barely look his opponent in they eye.

Okay, I like Liston inside of three rounds, but would love to see what happens if ****ey nails him early.

I saw feature on ****ey once. It seems like his dad Tony ****ey was an all time tough guy type ( judging by his photo ) and child beater with his four sons. Sometimes iron sharpens iron in a man. With Gerry, I think it broke him down a bit.

The article below is good read:

Well, ****ey beats Holyfield, Lewis, Weaver, Page..etc.

    ****ey KOs Liston in 1.

Lets go all the way..****ey KO Ali in 2. Ali was a sucker for the left and a slow starter afterall.

****ey is about to replace Ruddock, Ibeabuchi, Tokyo Douglas, PRIMEZ Tua, Lennox Lewis when he WAS ON, as the board's greatest myth.

Why? Because some of us picked him to beat Mike Weaver?

Prime ****ey could get anyone early and he had the range to get to Sonny as well, Gerry had a huge size advantage but really a one handed fighter (converted southpaw) Was the tallest guy Sonny fought 6'3, Gerry would be the biggest.

I think Sonny could get to Gerry but he better watch Gerry's early power

Liston by the time the third round is over. Too tough for C00ney.

I think you overrate Ali's ability to dance his was out of range for a whole 3 minutes.
That C00ney left hook, with C00ney's height and reach ... Ali's bound to lean back straight into its path within the first 90 seconds. I'd be SHOCKED if he makes it past 2 minutes, nevermind into round 2.

Ali was a great fighter but he lacked the fundamentals. C00ney exploits his biggest flaws. It's irrefutable.

This could be a great short fight with Liston winning by KO maybe in the 3rd round
