in '67 Liston probably has just enough left to take it, taking into account Frazier's relative inexperience. I imagine '68 is when the tables start to turn.
I don’t think Sonny looked that bad against Leotis early on, he could very well make a good showing for himself here.
Cant really pressure a man with snipers for arms. Cant really dodge the bullets either considering they were fast enough to nail Floyd Patterson. Not sure what Fraizer could work with here.
It's a 50/50 fight but after 1967 Frazier beats Liston like a drum. 1970/1971 Frazier would possibly kill old Liston if they fought.
Razors edge here. Joe was a bit green but I truly believe Sonny was close to 40 by then. I'm gonna lean towards Joe
65 was said to be the best shape he had ever been in, and he wasnt the type to slack off on training. Cant imagine it was too far gone.
Hard to consider Liston to be in the best shape in 1965 after he started getting consistent knee and shoulder in injuries after Patterson II
I dont know, thats just what someone said. Think it was one of his managers, very possibly they were just drumming up hype.
Hard to call. If I pick Sonny, he’s going to have to stop or KO Joe by round 7 or so. That was about the limit of Liston’s tank during the later 60s. Even when he stopped tough as teak Scrap Iron Johnson, Sonny looked exhausted from beating on poor old Scraps - and Liston did look somewhat relieved when the ref finally intervened.
