This comes up about every 3 months or so.Frazier supporters say he outgames Sonny.I think Liston crushes Joe due to styles.I don't think it goes past the halfway mark.

Me personally I say Liston is too powerful and Frazier style makes him have to go towards Liston which is suicide, Frazier has a bigger heart than Liston but I just don't see Frazier winning this one

At first I thought Liston. But then again Frazier can slip that jab and win the fight on the Inside.Interesting fight

Very bad match-up for Joe. Frazier goes down - and stays down inside of three rounds, maybe in the first. This would be worse than the Foreman debacle.

Ali at 6-3, 210-215 lbs, was big enough to physically stand in with the 6'1", 218 lb Liston.
The smaller Frazier, at FOTC 205 lbs, will eventually get backed up by Liston, and if so, that's all she wrote.

True. But Sonny never beat anyone remotely approaching the level of Joe in 1971 and, if you look at his fights, could be given trouble by men who weighed less than 205. Sonny never liked being hit to the body and Joe could do that with both hands. He was a bit one-handed with his head shots but did ok with the right on the inside.

And Sonny wouldn't be enjoying the advantage of Joe being intimidated. Sonny will have to deal with Joe getting up time and again if necessary and that would play on his psyche. It could go either way. I'd bet Sonny but no more than a fiver.

I think Sonny would have the upper hand inside too.

I favor Liston. I think he has similar power to George Foreman. He wasn't quite as fast of a starter but he would find Joe and drop the hammer on him in a few rounds. Sonny would put that jab in Frazier`s face and work from there. Liston had one of the most powerful lefthooks himself. Joe was susceptible to uppercuts and Sonny had a good one.

I don't count Joe Frazier out if he can get the bout in the mid rounds but I don't think its the most likely outcome.

Anyone drop Liston with a body shot? Anyone double him up with one? Anyone visibly hurt him with one?
Cleveland Williams wasn't intimidated by Liston, how did those two fights turn out?
