I can't do linky things, but I saw a lengthy debate on this fight on Youtube recently. I really like both fighters and I am finding it hard to make a pick. Help me out!
I can't many a pick with confidence either way on this one, but I think I'd go with Louis. Sonny would have a good 10-15 pounds on Joe, but I think a prime Louis could withstand Liston's early onslaught, and eventually take over with his beautiful, compact combination punching. Louis stops him Liston late, in a classic.
Louis was not a mobile mover,Liston would be favored with that type of fighter..the long steady jab would cause Louis problems and keep him off balance..liston by 6 rnd K.o,he hits to hard and is not as technically offensive but hes all around better.
I don't know for sure who wins. But I think it would be a great fight. I would be cheering for Joe Louis.
I suspect that Louis's speed would be the deciding factor, and it would see Louis beating Liston to the punch more often than not. Still a dangerous fight for Louis.
