That means nothing. I'd sign to fight Tyson for that kind of dough (and go down for the count on the first jab). But I'd be afraid. Very Afraid !
Why, because they beat Frazier and Patterson? Some key differences between Tyson and Frazier/Patterson: -Tyson was an extremely fast starter, perhaps the fastest in history. Frazier always needed 3 or 4 rounds to start "Smoking". Patterson didn't score that many early KO's, either. -Patterson, at 5'11 190lbs would probably be fighting at lightheavyweight today, or be a small cruiser. Frazier at 5'11 206lbs would also be fighting at CW. -Patterson has one of the weakest jaws in history of heavyweights, something you can't afford against Liston or Foreman. Frazier has a good jaw but nothing spectacular, either. Tyson takes on hell of a shot. Ruddock landed his best stuff several times without any effect. Lewis was pounding him for 8 rounds when he was basically defenseless. I think Lewis hits as hard or harder than Liston/Foreman, though he was less aggressive. -Patterson and Frazier both relied a lot on the left hook. Tyson could take you out with a short right hand, the overhand right, a left hook, right uppercut, you name it, he landed it. -Frazier was fat, i.e. more than 10lbs overweight for the Foreman fight, as well as more focused on his musical career than what happened inside the ring. The worst thing for a fighter to lose is motivation. In short: they might seem similar on first sight, but they are worlds apart on shorter inspection.
No,it means something,he had balls to know he was gonna take a beating.Cuz he knew he was gonna lose, especially by the second fight. But he had balls. And he took more than a jab to go down.
Was wondering when you gonna get here, yur opinion is always the best, these guys are good, you just a little better.:good Why Goomba?:huh
We're not discussing balls, my man. We're discussing whether he was afraid. It was evident that Floyd was nervous, if not scared shitless ! He was afraid and it affected his game. Not that his being unafraid would necessarily have made a lot of difference. Ali was afraid of Liston too. But he thought (knew) he could get away from the mayhem with his speedy feet and score with his speedy hands. But he probably had a few butterflies coming up to the opening bell. He conquered the fear, even made it work for him. Floyd let it get to him, and IMO, that accelerated the inevitable.
I never questioned his heart to get in the ring. The fact is that you don't bring a costume to hide, anticipating that you will lose, unless you're carrying some fears.
Ali worked Liston's mental stability too,he practically went crazy at the weigh-in.Liston had his butterflies too, probably not as Ali but he knew he fought 2 rounds in 2 years and didn't train properly.Floyd IMO was nervous but not that much that it affectedd his game,or that much anywa. The outcome is the same anyway,he didn't get out of the first round in 2 tries, that is a big negative record.
I'm sorry but Liston would of been out of there in 5 rounds. A Prime Mike Tyson was a beast that had speed, power, combination and movement. His pressure would be to much for Liston to handle.
