You don't have to be sorry to me. I loved Golota. I rooted for him throughout his career. I even went to one of his fights. But Golota didn't beat "prime" Riddick Bowe. That's just trolling. Bowe had marbles in his mouth after the third Holyfield fight. Regardless, this isn't a Bowe-Buster Douglas thread.
I didn't even know that was Beys debut. Incredible. To think Douglas became the undisputed champion of the world is amazing. He beat undefeated Mike Tyson to do it
In real life he doesn't get rated so highly but on this forum he might be the most overrated heavyweight of all time. Either him or Vitali
Both top 20 material. I'll do the match ups: 1. Holyfield 1 beats Patterson 2. Holyfield 3 still beats Patterson 3. Golota I beats Folley 4. Golota II beats Williams 5. Williams beats Donald 6. Machen beats Hide 7. Tubbs beats Wepner Their resumes turn really bad after that so I'll end the match ups there. Bowe didn't satisfyingly beat Golota, but he didnt totally embarass himself against Alix2. He also deserves some credit for losing competitively to Holyfield. The gut reaction is put Liston higher, but Bowe actually beat the better guys and had the higher lows. I'm changing my pick to Bowe.
Liston is better, but less so than Carnera who is in fact the better overall fighter then he and Bowe.
Agreed. Bowe is in good company being compared to 1 and done champs such as Douglas, Baer, etc if we're being honest. It's not like Bowe racked up a bunch of noteworthy title defenses against serious contenders. His next best wins after Holyfield aren't worth thinking twice about.
