Sonny Liston vs Riddick Bowe

Riddick at his very best would give Liston a tough fight I think .I don't see Sonny just walking through him .But I do see Liston getting the harder punches in and picking up the point s .Riddick could leave him self open a fair bit so Sonny would zoom in on that .I'll say Liston by 11 round ko in a good fight.

 

Liston had a more powerful jab and a longer reach but sometimes he left his lead extended and could be countered when that would happen I feel Bowe could knock him out because Ali hurt Sonny in their first bout and didn`t have the power that Bowe had.

 

Tough call. Bowe was a legit, skilled SHW who could crack. Liston would have never seen anything close to a prime Bowe. But Bowe didn't have the best chin or defense. Slap an iron chin on Bowe and I'd favor him over Liston. But Bowe's chin wasn't iron. Liston was 6'1 212 pounds vs Williams

Williams at least hit as hard as Bowe. But he couldn't deliver it in sustained amounts like Bowe would likely do. I see it coming down to who's chin wavers first as this would be a fire fight. So I'll pick Liston via KO, but only just.

 

Don't know why people think Bowe had a bad chin. Look at his record.
Liston has to keep Bowe on the outside as Bowe is the superior inside fighter. If Liston can do that I think he takes him.

 

The best man Liston beat were Patterson and Williams. Brave to pick him over Big Daddy Bowe....

Just because Bowe was so wide open to be hit I guess. Also, he was rocked by Biggs left hook. So it's not as if he could just afford to plow through Liston's left hooks.

 

It's VERY possible Liston was the H2H Goat. I only see one fighter beating him prime for prime in Ali. MAYBE Louis.
