Well, it starts with Max Baer. That win alone is worth more than 5 of Williams wins

 

Just on the question of Baer quitting against Louis - just wanted to say it can be a curse having a ridiculously resilient chin like Baer’s as with several other notable guys through out boxing history.

When they’re totally out classed, steel chinned guys are looking at a long drawn out hiding - whereas other guys might be mercifully put out early thanks to chins that aren’t so concrete - sparing them of having to decide at some point if continuing is worthwhile or not.

Suffice to say. a lot of Louis’ KO victims were put out cold for somewhat less than what Max endured. Poor Max - a rare instance of Joe not being so economical - he really loosened the purse strings and blew the budget on Maxie!

 

Washed up, weighing 221lbs in his last fight,the other stoppage was because of a cut mouth.
Ernie Terrell stopped twice in 55 fights by Jeff Merritt in his last fight , and by Williams.

 

So Baer being 221 lbs is worse than Terrell being below 200 lbs and being only 23, with no win at world level at this point?

If he stays focused he could very conceivably beat all of them. Especially if we’re talking about the Liston of 1959-1962
