Liston vs Max Baer Max Schmeling Jack Sharkey Tony Galento Buddy Baer Abe Simon Al McCoy Nathan Mann Does Liston make it through this murders row undefeated?
LOL at Murderer's Row. Facetious or sincere, that was funny. Liston beats them all easily with the exception of Schmeling who makes Sonny have to work hard for it.
Galento had a hell of a left hook, Max Baer had devastating power in both hands and a good chin and Schmeling would be one of the most scientific boxers Liston faced, with a nuke of a right hand to boot. And Sharkey was as skilled as Machen.
Beats all. If the Baer that fought Louis (both hands ****ed up) fights Liston, it's a butchering. But if a prime Baer shows up, things could get interesting real quick. Like both guys hitting the deck type. Might be a prototype Foreman vs Lyle
Liston would not hit the deck in a million years against a guy as crude as Baer who lacked any semblance of a jab.
On their best nights... Baer - 50/50 he might get caught Schmeling - Loss by decision Sharkey - Liston wins but Sharkey is competitive - might be a SD in a 10-round fight. Sharkey has a great chance if it's a 15-rounder and he doesn't get caught. Liston beats the rest - Simon and B. Baer's size might present him with some problems.
At least he scrapes by Sharkey (as long as it's not a 15-rounder), and manages to beat Mccoy, Simon, Buddy, Man, and Galento.
TBH, Sharkey in many ways is the equivalent of Machen. Sharkey at his best could hypothetically survive against Liston to the last bell. I do think Max Baer at his best would be more formidable against Liston than Williams. Because of Baers chin and power. Galento also had an iron chin and a very hard left hook. Like Tua in lots of ways.
