Sonny Liston vs Tim Witherspoon

I agree. A 15 fight Witherspoon did a good job at nullifying Holmes' jab and could box fairly well with decent power behind his shots. He was awkward and durable as well to go along with having respectable size and arm length. I might favor Liston to win a decision or late stoppage but its by no means a given.. A well trained and motivated Terrible Tim might prove more formidable than Patterson, Williams, Machen or Folley.

 

I hate that you like Liston. Because he's my favorite fighter. And I don't respect your views toward Marciano


Liston smashes Witherspoon

 

A well trained and motivated Tim was a rare sight. Tim showed up most of the time in borderline obese condition. Liston was always in great condition

Listons powerful long left hook would break through tims crab defense, Tim wouldn't know how to stop it

 

Liston wins a hard fought decision.But one thing is for certain. He's not going to intimidate Tim, not one bit.

 

You really think Thomas had a better jab than Ali!

 

I think Witherspoon would hang tough and make the fight competitive but overall Liston's jab and crushing right hand would bust him up. I think Liston would likely stop him late in a championship fight.

 

Witherspoon is underrated IMO he was a very talented capable fighter with big power, size and skills.

Pinklon Thomas beat him with his sledgehammer jab and controlled the fight Liston would do the same.
