Tony had Joe Louis down and in trouble more than once. It was a wild and dangerous affair. This was PEAK Joe Louis, just 12 months after he destroyed Max Schmeling. Lets take peak Sonny Liston as well. Say, 1960 to Floyd Patterson, when he craved the title. I see complete devastation personally. Galento leads with his face and is 5'9" with a 72" reach. He also bleeds. This doesn't hear the bell for the 3rd round, with Galento a mess. He'd be as red as the sauce on his hot dogs. Terrible, terrible matchup for him as Liston spears him with jabs and uppercuts coming in and handles him easy in clinches. Galento gets dirty and Sonny riles right up.
Liston's jab would be murder here. Tony, shortstubby and wide open coming in , that jab Will make mush out of his face in no time. Tony wouldn't be scared of Liston, he'd insult him at the weight in, whilst Sonny just smiles. By the fourth round Tony would be a mess, cut up, swollen and his legs like Bambi s. The ref would have to dive in to stop Tony being killed in there!
Liston wins a massacre of epic proportions!! KO or stoppage by the 3rd round tops. (Galento would literally be beaten to a pulp!!)
Liston and he probably doesn’t get caught like Louis as Liston extends his punches better, he wouldn’t have to risk being closer to land punches, he could do everything from arm’s length and let the opportunities come off of the jab and therefore Galento’s mistakes.
