This battle would start at the Stare down. That would be epic enough to get tickets to see.

    Who wins in this slugfest?

    Vitali 6' 7" KO% 85

    Liston 6' 1/2" KO% 78

Liston . Whatever the stats say, Vitali's power is not on Sonny's level.

    Is Liston better than Lennox?

Vitali was winning that match. He would have a huge height advantage in this one. But the one thing I cant look past is that incredible Jab by Liston.

Just not sure that will be enough.

No ,but prime Sonny was better than the old Lennox that beat Vitali.

I picked Sonny on points due to Vitali's great chin. I think Sonny could bust him up in a brutal fight.

I don't know...maybe Liston would bust VK up and force a bloody tko, but there sure wouldn't be any knockdowns in this bout.Being the fickle ******* that I am, I've already begun to waver on this....switching to Liston by decision over a bloody VK,...and now on the cusp of going for VK winning a decision over Liston....******* maybe, but at least Im not an antiUkrainianist!!:skull

Sonny could not take Vitali's sustained attack, and would find him very hard to catch. Vitali via TKO.

I must admit figuring out Liston for me is tough. He was a big man in his day with skills and power who beat up on smaller men, but he also some trouble with smaller men, and poor intangibles. His resume is a little thin compared to other all time greats.

How tough and durable was he? I think he's a little over rated in the durability dept, and a prone to cuts and swelling.

VK would have been the toughest man Sonny ever fought. No one had a better chin than Vitali.

I prefer Liston as a fighter to watch. But I don't pick either fighter with any real confidence. Did Vitali beat anyone as good as Sonny? Did Sonny beat anyone as good as vitali?

Vitali Klitschko has never demonstrated that he can beat an ATG in his prime and likewise Sonny Liston has never shown that he can beat a much larger opponent with proven durability, power and a decent outside fighting game.. Tough call to make both ways.. I may slightly favor Klitscko. Liston wasn't accustomed to being the smaller man and in this case he'd be dwarfed by Vitali, who also had some solid whiskers, decent punch, good jab and was usually in good condition. Liston wasn't the most durable of men either. Of course if a fluke injury such as a huge cut or another torn rotator cuff occurred then this may be Sonny's best chance of winning.. But these things only happened twice in Vitali's 45 fight career.

You gotta remember Lennox was old, didn't look in good shape and looked sloppy and not sharp at all in his fight with Klitschko and he still won.. He landed big punches that nearly took Klitschko's eye out the fight had to be stopped. The fact that Klitschko won more rounds means very little considering Lewis got a legit TKO victory over him.

Liston vs Klitschko would be interesting match up. Klitschko has a lot of size and I think would win a number of rounds just on his activity. Liston's blundging jab I see getting through to Klitschko's face and busting him up. It's really matter of how they responde to each other's challenge. Will Liston be able to deal with Klitschko's size, activity and hard punching I think he'll have to pay much more of a price then he had in other victories including against Clevland Williams. But will Klitschko be able to take Liston's solid jab and power punches, will he break down after a few rounds of this?

Really hard for me to pick a winner in fact I can't be confident going either way.
